With support from engineering students and computer science faculty, Dr. Kamran Kardel, associate professor of manufacturing engineering, is leading a project poised to transform regional logistics.

For the second consecutive year, Georgia Southern faculty members from various disciplines were featured on Stanford and Elsevier’s 2025 list of the top 2% of scientists in the world.

Dr. Tamerah Hunt shares research on parasport concussions at international summit


Hunt, an associate professor of health sciences and kinesiology in the Waters College of Health Professions, recently presented at the World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy conference in Ireland.


Joined by collaborator Katie Mitchell, Hunt delivered a session titled “Diversifying Concussion Management in Para Sport: Updates and Clinical Innovations for Athletic Trainers & Therapists.”


Their presentation explored the evolving landscape of parasport athletics and highlighted emerging best practices in concussion care for athletes with disabilities.

Georgia Southern VP for Research and Economic Development celebrates collaboration milestone


Dr. David Weindorf and Dr. Somsubhra Chakraborty recently celebrated a major milestone in their joint research.


They just co-authored their 100th scholarly publication.


The relationship began more than 15 years ago when Weindorf was an associate professor at Louisiana State University, where Chakraborty was a doctoral student.


Together, they have pioneered innovations in soil sensing, AI-driven analysis, and sustainable land use. 


Congratulations to both on this outstanding achievement!


Georgia Southern faculty club highlights the power of connection and research

Georgia Southern hosted its 2025 Faculty Club events on Nov. 6 (Statesboro) and Nov. 7 (Armstrong), bringing together faculty from across disciplines to highlight their ongoing research.


Attendees heard brief presentations from colleagues, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments, and strengthened cross-campus connections that continue to fuel the University’s growing research enterprise.
