The Eagle Eye with Dr. Weindorf

The arrival of fall brings cooler temperatures and fresh momentum to a new semester. The same is true for our office, as we continue raising the profile of Georgia Southern’s research enterprise across campus.

Earlier this month, we hosted State of the Research Enterprise events on both the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses. These gatherings allowed our leadership team to share resources with faculty, provide updates on our Road to R1, and highlight new initiatives that advance awareness of Georgia Southern research. The events were so well-received that we plan to make them an annual tradition.

On September 30, we will continue that momentum with a campus roadshow, whereby Georgia Southern leaders will tour several of our labs, including the Institute for Water and Health, the high-performance computing center, and the Business Innovation Group, among others. This hands-on experience will allow decision-makers to see firsthand the innovation and impact happening in some of our research spaces.

As the semester accelerates, let us remember that the more we communicate with and inspire one another, the greater our impact will be beyond the campus.

Eagle Tips Challenge!

It's time for another Eagle Tips Challenge!

This month’s focus: “Know some indicators of export control restrictions in your research”

When evaluating funding opportunities, pay attention to specific key phrases. Here are some terms in sponsored research solicitations that may indicate potential export control measures:

“controlled”, “sensitive”, or “classified

Restrictions about publishing research results

Applicant qualifications based on citizenship

Acronyms like EAR, ITAR, CCL, or USML regulations

Contact RSEC with your export control questions at exportcontrol@georgiasouthern.edu.

Congratulations to last month's winner - Dr. Ty Boyer!

We want to thank all the faculty for their interest in our graphic design program/partnership with the students in Jason Murdock's Data Information and Visualization class.

The program has been so popular that we can no longer accept any new requests.

Don't worry, though, we will do our best to bring the program back for future semesters!
