A special thank you to all the project stakeholders specifically KOA Corporation, who designed and engineered the project, Granite Construction, the general contractor, the City's Public Services Department, and, of course, the community and surrounding businesses for your patience during construction.

Clean Bear Sites Open to Big Bear Lake Property Owners/Renters Only Beginning December 1
Effective December 1, 2022 the City and Big Bear Disposal will be working to restrict access to the Clean Bear Sites for owners, tenants, and guests of residential properties within the City of Big Bear Lake only.

The operation of the Clean Bear Sites is a part of the residential solid waste services provided by Big Bear Disposal and is funded entirely by residential solid waste fees paid by property owners within the City of Big Bear Lake.

Going forward, users of the Clean Bear Sites will be asked to provide proof of eligibility by:
  • Photo ID
  • Property Document (Mortgage Statement, Lease, Property Tax Bill)
  • Utility Bill
  • Car Registration
  • For visitors, a rental contract or other document associated with a City of Big Bear Lake residential property address

Commercial waste, including business waste, construction and demolition waste, and hazardous waste are never allowed to be disposed of at the Clean Bear Sites, regardless of the City where it originates.

Residents and guests of properties in Big Bear City, Baldwin Lake, Erwin Lake, Fawnskin, Sugarloaf, and other unincorporated County areas will no longer be able to access the Clean Bear Sites. For more information about solid waste services in these areas, property owners should contact the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Management Division or the Big Bear City Community Services District.

To facilitate these restrictions, the Clean Bear Sites will be staffed with representatives from Big Bear Disposal to verify eligibility. Additionally, the sites will have operating hours from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. For additional information, please visit Big Bear Disposal's website.
Changes Made to the Winter Traffic Management Plan; plan to be put in place December 16
In August 2022, the City Council authorized a consulting agreement with Gibson Transportation Consulting to coordinate a review and revision of the winter Traffic Management Plan (TMP). The reason behind this review/revision is due to the operational changes that will impact the TMP including the completion of the Moonridge Corridor Improvements Project, the acquisition by Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) of a large parking lot on Sandalwood Drive, and the continued utilization of Mountain Transit to provide shuttling operations in support of the TMP.

One of the major changes to the TMP is parking lot phasing.

  • parking will be differentiated as Pre-Paid Parking and Free Parking. Pre-paid parking will be implemented, on peak and maximum days, at the base lots of both BBMR locations and will be made available through their online ticketing portal. All other visitors will be directed to the free parking lots, which are not resort specific, that will be supported by shuttles with dedicated routes to either Snow Summit or Big Bear Mountain Resorts. The parking phasing, as outlined below, will remain the same for all days in which the TMP is operated. The FREE lots will be loaded in 3 phrases:
  • Phase I; Sandalwood and Fox Farm Lots
  • Phase II; Brownie Lot
  • Phase III; Moonridge Lot and Backwards Look Lot (if needed

Winter TMP operations are scheduled to begin the weekend of December 16-17 and will continue each weekend through early March and daily during the period from December 16 through the New Year holiday to accommodate the anticipated peak and maximum days.
