Updates & Reminders

Spring Eligibility Reminders

As spring seasons begin, we wanted to share a few reminders to help your student-athletes get their determinations on-time.

  • The turnaround time between students getting in line for reviews and competition starting can be short this time of year. Please add contest dates in PlayNAIA, or complete this form and return it to ECinfo@naia.org.
  • Not sure if a student needs a new EC determination? Check out the situation analysis to determine if a student needs a new application started.

You can also support your students by ensuring:

  • Their terms for determination are set for winter 2023-24 (quarter schools only) or spring 2024.
  • Any fall 2023 or winter inter-session coursework has been added to their registration.
  • Final transcripts are sent as soon as possible.

Winter Inter-session Transcripts Required Starting Feb. 1

Students enrolled in winter 2023-24 non-term coursework will be required to submit final inter-session grades beginning February 1 in order to receive an eligibility decision. Students with winter 2023-24 enrollment who do not submit transcripts with complete through the non-term will not be placed in line for review.

InCred Evaluation with Updates

International students enrolling at your institution for the fall 2024 term, who need an "in-progress" evaluation for admissions purposes, should select the "Basic with Update" or "Course-by-Course with Update" evaluation types. Once they complete their studies, they will upload their final transcript and diploma to their original application to receive an updated evaluation for eligibility purposes.

Holiday Closure Coverage Recap

As you know, the eligibility center provided limited coverage during the NAIA’s winter holiday closure. During that time, 23 students received determinations and all email inquiries were answered on those days. Please join us in thanking the EC staff who enabled these and other services over the break: Alyssa, Anna, Ben, Chase C., Chase P., Daniel, David, Gillian, Hayden, Jaxon, Josh H., Justine, Sebastian, and Zach. Happy New Year!

Customer Service Highlight

We have been working hard to maintain exceptional customer service for members, students, and parents. We want to recognize Payton Price, an eligibility center team lead, for doing just that, as highlighted in these kind words from a parent: “…thank you again for your patience and all your help. This is for our youngest of five. We have had NCAA, NAIA and JUCO eligibility issues with each due to schooling in different countries and/or unique learning styles in high school. You are by far the most efficient and knowledgeable eligibility center contact we have ever crossed paths with. Thank you for your kindness and professionalism.”

The Eligibility Edge is sent to ADs, commissioners, coaches, FARs, registrars, compliance administrators, eligibility chairs, and EC contacts on the second Tuesday of every month. Please contact us with any questions regarding content. For questions regarding newsletter distribution or to add someone to the email list, please contact Jen Saab.
