The Council of Presidents Executive Committee met this morning and approved two eligibility recommendations made by the National Eligibility Committee and the Council of Faculty Athletic Representatives.
The first approved recommendation will extend the current COVID, freshman exception for an additional year. This extension will allow entering freshman in 2021-22 to be eligible solely by achieving a high school GPA of 2.0. In addition, students using this exception to compete as a freshman will be required to earn a 2.0 collegiate GPA prior to competition in their third semester/fourth quarter term of attendance.
The second approved exception allows home-schooled students who complete a home-schooling program (in accordance with state laws) to be granted automatic eligibility if they have passed nine or more institutional credit hours with a grade of C or better. This exception is a supplementary way for home-schooled students to gain eligibility, in addition to the standard options which continue to be available. This exception goes into effect immediately.
