Coverages Bringing Peace of Mind and Protect your Wallet

Hospital Confinement plans- available in all states except AK, CT, HI, ME
Recovery Care Choice Plans available in these states: AL,GA, NC, OH, SC, TX

Many consumers enrolled Marketplace, Medicare Advantage and Short-Term Medical plans face large copays or coinsurance bills when hospitalized, have outpatient surgery or if they are moved to a rehab center or skilled nursing care facility. This year we have seen the introduction of many policies that will help pay for those out-of-pocket expenses for individuals and families.

Some plans are customizable – for example a Hospital Confinement plan covers $500 in a daily hospital reimbursement for 15 days, pays you $200 for ambulance transport, has a lump sum cancer rider that pays $5000 upon diagnosis, provides $250 for outpatient surgical procedures and has a rehab benefit for 15 days. For a 55 year old female, the policy is $20.50 per month! Increase the hospital benefit to $1000 and the cost is now $24.41 a month. Change that Hospital confinement plan to cover a 65 year old female and the monthly premium is $23.10 with the $500 hospital benefit, and the $1000 benefit would be $29.03 These plans are VERY affordable and as indemnity plans, they will put money back in your pocket to pay towards many common health scenarios that you may otherwise have out of pockets costs to cover.

Recovery Care plans are a newer plan offered to help with the rising costs of home care, ambulance, adult day care, home modifications, mental health, bed reservation benefits, RX medications and Excess Part B charges and even pet boarding. These are considered Short Term Care plans and can cover ages 40-89. Benefits are paid directly to you as the member and are non-taxable.

• April Fool’s Day falls on April 1st and is the day to pull pranks on loved ones and close associates. Ever ponder the origins of April Fool’s Day? The tradition of April Fools is thought to have started in France in the 16th century after the New Year’s date was changed from April 1st to January 1st. Those who kept celebrating the April new year were viewed as foolish and frequently became victims.

• April is National Donate Life Month- you can find out more information @registerme.org and to register as an organ and tissue donor, too.

• The month of April was known as Aprillus by the Romans. The verb aperire, which means to blossom or open, is thought to be the origin of the word. This naturally makes sense, given that in April, flowers begin to emerge from the ground, and the first tree buds appear.

• The day Twitter was launched in 2006. Founder Jack Dorsey inaugurated the social media site with his profound first tweet: “just setting up my twttr.” We can’t believe he spelled it that way either.

• Earth Day is a celebration of the preservation of the environment. April 22, 1970, marked the first-ever observance of Earth Day. The environmental march, which drew more than 20 million participants, remains the biggest one-day demonstration in American history. Taking care of the Planet was crucial back then, and it is even more crucial today.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a notification that they will be reassigning up to 1.3 million Medicare IDs during the month of April and affected beneficiaries will be receiving new cards. However, we have been notified that a glitch in the CMS system is causing some of the beneficiaries that have new Medicare IDs to receive a termination in their plan coverage. If you are notified of a cancellation of coverage, please contact our office and provide a copy of any documentation you receive and we will be glad to assist or reach out to Medicare as they do expect this issue to be resolved quickly.

Last month, Elite Insurance Associates was featured in the vendor showcase at the Women’s Business Organization Spring Signature Event. The theme was Finding Your Inner Compass; Aligning Values, Vision and the Long Game for Your Business. As members of the organization, Teresa Mask and Chris Spauling-Balkcom were excited to participate and to connect with inspirational professionals. The speakers were incredible and there was so much valuable insight to take away. We’re grateful to be part of a community that supports, empowers, and uplifts one another.
