October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women worldwide with over 2.3 million new cases diagnosed each year. While men can get breast cancer, it is much a rarer occurrence, accounting for less than 1% of all cases. Regular screening through mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear.

Early detection increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery. A healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and maintaining a healthy weight, can help reduce the risk of breast cancer. Ongoing research continues to explore new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat breast cancer, improving the quality of life for those affected by the disease.

It is important to recognize the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that come with a breast cancer diagnosis. To help alleviate some of the financial burden, there are cancer insurance policies available that can provide financial support for treatments, doctor visits, and other medical expenses. These policies are designed to ease the strain of cancer care costs, allowing individuals and families to focus on recovery rather than worrying about bills. December 7^th Medicare Open Enrollment period ends
December 15^th Marketplace Open Enrollment for January 1^st effective dates end

Short-Term Medical Extension Approved!

As of September 19, 2025 most states approved the Short Term Medical extension from three months to six or twelve month options. Florida has adopted and approved Short Term medical policies for up to twelve month term length of time for these plans.

These plans are medically underwritten and some offer copays for the first four doctor office visits, prescription drug coverage, and up to a 2 million dollar lifetime benefit for each covered person, eligible coverage for preexisting conditions (after twelve months on the plan) and include a nationwide network of over 1.8 million providers. These options are not always a perfect fit for everyone and do not include all of the ten essential benefits included in Qualified Health plans offered on the Marketplace.

However Short Term Medical Plans can prove invaluable in certain situations where Marketplace health Insurance may not be a possibility. This may include time periods outside of Open Enrollment when coverage is needed and there are not qualifying life event or periods where there is a waiting period between employer sponsored coverage beginning.
