Open Enrollment Dates and Deadlines

Medicare Open Enrollment:
Oct 15th-Dec 7th

Open enrollment for all Medicare beneficiaries is quickly approaching! This is the time for you to review, change or renew your current coverages. Medicare Supplement plans automatically renew during this time, but the following changes can be made:

You may change your Medicare Advantage or your Part D RX plan
You may switch from Original Medicare into a Medicare Advantage plan
You may drop your Advantage Plan and return to Original Medicare and add a Medicare Supplement and a Part D plan.

All changes made during this time will be effective January 1st, 2026. The following forms are required and due to CMS guidelines, we must now update consent/Scope of Appointment forms annually. If you have not already scheduled your appointment with your Elite Medicare Agent, please reach out to our office at 904-527-1304.

Marketplace/ACA Health Insurance Open Enrollment:

Nov 1st-Dec 15th

Open Enrollment is the annual period to find, change, or update your health insurance coverage and all policies will become effective January 1st, 2026. There have been numerous changes this year that will affect your Open Enrollment.

There is a shorter timeframe to get changes updated, so please contact our office to get an appointment scheduled ASAP.
All members must update their data and income information and there will be no passive renewals for zero dollar plans.
Consent forms are required annually and must be completed prior to appointments.
Tax Credits that were expanded during COVID may expire at the end of December and could affect health insurance premiums for 2026.
Several carriers are exiting the Health Insurance market and members may be moved to a plan that they did not choose, if they do not select and enroll in a new plan.
Tax Reconciliation is being enforced and if you have not filed taxes for two years that you have received premium tax credits, your subsidy will expire and you will have to pay the full amount of your Health premiums until that has been reconciled.
More documentation may be required. If you have lost coverage, been declined Medicaid or have had any change, please save all your documentation and have items like dates of birth and social security numbers readily available or enrollments cannot be completed.
Letters have been sent out by carriers that indicate updated premium amounts for 2026. We know that in most cases these numbers are not accurate as they were sent prior to rates being locked in and can be impacted by any updates made in your application for your 2026 coverage.

Life Insurance Awareness Month

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month and was created by Life Happens and sponsored by LIMRA (Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association) and LOMA (Life Office Management Association). This campaign aims to help education consumers about Life Insurance and the impact it can have when financially protecting family income and assets. When considering life insurance, many people often ask themselves how much life insurance is enough. This answer can change significantly over your lifetime. Another common question to consider; what type. Are you wanting a term policy or permanent whole life coverage? Term life insurance typically offers the most amount of coverage for the lowest initial premium. This makes this type of life insurance policy a good choice for those on a tighter budget. Permanent life insurance provides lifelong protection for as long as you pay the premiums and typically protects to age 100 and does not have to be renewed or rewritten.

Depending on your circumstances and financial goals, sometimes a combination of term and permanent insurance is the answer. Generally death benefit funds are not taxable and can be paid out in a lump sum or installments. • A little-known, but highly significant holiday falls on September 17th -Constitution Day, which marks the day that the U.S. Constitution was adopted.

• September often features the “Harvest Moon”, the fullest moon of the year.

• Fall officially begin on September 22nd, with cooler weather, gentle breezes and falling leave… if we’re lucky in Florida!

• Florida has a new tax free holiday for hunting, fishing and camping supplies, which began Sept 8th and will run through December 31st.
