Dear Friends,
As we’ve spent the week talking to our members, we’re hearing that you want to help. You are all looking to support your peers, your community and, of course, your families and loved ones during these unprecedented times. In addition to support, our business community is still seeking the camaraderie and shared experience that sustains us in less trying times. We are working to continue to create these opportunities that are perhaps more important now than ever.
We are working every day to share the good work that you are doing. We know that our members consistently lead by example, and this situation is no different. We would love to hear from you about what you are doing, how you are working, or how you are helping others during this time. Share with us by tagging us on Facebook or emailing us. We really miss seeing you at our events and out and about in the community, so please contact us! Sharing our experiences with each other will help us to weather this crisis. This includes your creative and lighthearted moments – laughter is good for our mental and physical health.
In the absence of being able to interact with each other face to face, it’s important that we pick up the phone to talk with one another and use social media to stay connected with each other, especially with your business to business contacts. Many of you are on the front lines and essential to our daily lives. You are open for business and planning for recovery. The help you are providing will ensure recovery is faster and more robust. I have been heartened to witness our members serving as community warriors. Thank you for everything you are doing.
The health and safety of our members, community, and partners is our highest priority during this unprecedented time. Your Chamber team has been actively following COVID-19 developments, and we are evaluating actions daily, to best identify how to serve you. We are committed to keeping you informed about resources to help keep you and your employees safe and healthy, as well as making you aware of resources that will help your business recover.
We are all pulling in the same direction, and we know that we will emerge stronger and healthier in the end. Please continue to let us know how we can help you. Stay safe, healthy, and connected! Know that your Chamber will be with you every step of the way.
Serving you,
Holly Staples

Congratulations to Courtney Hobbs, Community Banker at Southern Bank, our Ambassador of the Month!
|
My name is Courtney Hobbs. I live in Gates County, NC even though I am originally from Charlotte NC. I am a community banker at Southern Bank. I have been with Southern Bank for 3 years and am very grateful for all of the opportunities I have been given, including being able to work with such a great group of people. In my spare time I enjoy running, working out, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.

COVID-19
March has certainly brought unprecedented circumstances upon our community, our nation and our world. I hope this month’s newsletter finds you all well. Similar to most of you, we are taking precautionary steps at all commands to help prevent any spread of COVID-19. All the while, we do have a mission to sustain and we continue to do so. All non-essential services on base have been secured until further notice. Along with those services, events are cancelled as well. The first large event to become a casualty of these circumstances is the Base Spring Fling. We’ll miss seeing all of the children running around the park area looking for Easter eggs and other surprises. I hope you all enjoy a fantastic April and we are all out and about together soon. Enjoy!

As the coronavirus pandemic has expanded and the number of cases grown, American Legion National Commander Bill Oxford has urged Legionnaires to follow the guidance of local officials and health experts to avoid both contracting and spreading the virus.
Use this time for Buddy Checks via emails and phone calls to older veterans in the community to make sure they have the supplies they need, are feeling healthy and help them acquire the resources they need.

Legal Shield - Barbara Hendrickson
|
|
We are currently living in un-chartered waters.
In the weeks and months ahead many legal questions will arise both personal and business that would normally have not been an issue before the Pandemic.
Issues like:
* “My son was in his last year of school. We paid for room and food vouchers. Are we entitled to
a refund as he will not be there next year and a credit will not help?”
*“During the shutdown when my business was closed I was not bringing in any revenue. I am just now getting back on feet but I am a month behind on my rent. Can my landlord penalize or evict me?”
We are all hopeful that when this ends everyone will work together to bring our economy back to
where it was. If this does not happen, in some cases we need to protect ourselves just as we do
with car insurance when driving a car.
Take a moment and go over the benefits of a personal LegalShield membership below.
This covers you, your spouse {or significant other} and up to 8 children on a monthly membership
of only $24.95. If you contact me I can send you the small business protection information also.
May everyone stay safe and well during this period of uncertainty.
~ Barbara Hendrickson
