Leadership. It can be a daunting word. I am fortunate to meet great leaders every day. I work with strong leaders in government, in our schools, and in our membership.
In conversations with business owners, many times, I hear, "I am not a leader" but you are wrong. Everyone is a leader in some way. You are a leader if you own a business, serve on a committee, or are a proud employee or manager. Even if you are a parent or a pet owner!
Our Chamber members are all strong leaders! Our business community is being observed and you are seen as an example across the State of how successful and responsible business should look. Your collaborations and strength of community are noted and others benefit from seeing your leadership.
Thank you for coming out to our events to support each other! This month is full of celebrations! Embrace your leadership and support your fellow members by attending and networking!
It is true there is a risk in being a leader. Being a tall tree means you could be the target of a lightning strike in the storm, but, you are also the first to feel the rain and see the sun! Embrace your greatness! The Chamber is here to encourage, support, promote, and celebrate you! We will be talking!
Serving You,
Anya Davis

Tina and her family moved to Northeastern North Carolina in 2000. They loved the area and it’s proximity to the water, but also saw it as a great place to start a business. After recognizing that mold and mildew issues were common to this area and the Southeast, they worked with their chemist to develop a product that would begin to change the way mold issues were viewed and mitigated. This product was later placed nationally into central distribution and a received a patent in 2007.
A few years later, Dwelling Management Solutions was birthed out of a need for local services related to water restoration and mold remediation. Since 2005, Dwelling Management Solutions has been serving both residential and commercial properties in all of Northeastern North Carolina.
Tina’s husband passed away in 2020 and since then, she and her two daughter have successfully grown the company year after year with the help of their current team, including the great addition of Joey Miller. Tina has a pivotal role in the community. She uses her decorated background in communications to connect and grow relationships with people of all different backgrounds.

WHY WOMEN OVER 50?
I started a portrait series which will end in a gallery exhibition and celebration. My goal is to photograph twenty incredible women of beauty, strength, and grace, showcase their portraits and tell their stories, so people can see what 50 really looks like, be inspired, and celebrate with them.
I've got 20+ reasons why you should sign up to be a part of it. Do you have the time to read them all?
Here are my top three reasons:
- They deserve to feel beautiful and they deserve to be seen. THIS IS 50+ portrait experience is all about making them feel special, and showing the different sides of who they are.
- Old is not a dirty word. Aging is simply a part of the life we have been given, and if you're not growing older, you're dead. So we celebrate life, every stage of it.
-
We photograph things that are remarkable. And 50 years on earth is remarkable. As is 60, 70, 80, and on. Portraits are about people, and if anyone deserves to have a beautiful portrait of them done, it is the people who have lived.
So I hope you'll join me and the other women who will tell their stories and inspire others to exist in beautiful portraits they love, at every age.

Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity
|
|
Elizabeth City, NC 7/18/2022 —Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity has received a $12,000 grant from Lowe’s to help complete 2-3 Housing Plus projects in Elizabeth City. The funding is part of Lowe’s partnership renewal with Habitat for Humanity that includes a donation of $2.5 million to support 100 local Habitat organizations undertaking home repair and rehab projects across the U.S.
“This grant will enable us to complete repairs for our low-income seniors,” said Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity President Erica Ramjohn.
Projects in Elizabeth City will focus on repairs for low-income senior homeowners. These repairs will not only provide safer homes for these residents, but they will also enable them to remain in their homes independently. While making the repairs, the affiliate will also provide modifications such as step-in showers, grab bars, and accessible door handles.
Access to quality, affordable home repair, and modification services continues to be out of reach for low to moderate-income households across the nation. With the support of this funding, Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity will be able to further its efforts to help families in Elizabeth City address critical health and safety issues in their homes.
“Over 17% of the population in Elizabeth City is over 65 and many of those residents live in poverty,” said Vice-President Jane Elfring. “They don’t have the money that is necessary to complete repairs and often small repairs become big ones as a result.”
Lowe’s and Habitat began their partnership in 2003. Since then, Lowe’s has supported many of the global housing nonprofit’s efforts, including the Women Build Program and Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization program. Lowe’s has also supported Habitat’s Cost of Home national advocacy campaign and sponsored local Habitat builds and employee volunteer days, in addition to providing affiliate grants and donated products. Lowe’s commitment through 2022 will bring the company’s total contributions to Habitat to more than $84 million.

NC Rock Autism Music Festival
|
|
Our journey with Autism began when our son was diagnosed on the spectrum at the age of 2. He will be turning 10 this year and has brought so much awareness to this community through his infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and adventurous spirit. His name is
Jagger and he is a beautiful child with enough energy for a thousand rooms.
Unfortunately, sometimes with Autism comes a relentless set of challenges for the individual and the family. In order to make a difference, in 2017 my husband Daniel Jordana and I pursued an idea of his and founded the annual music event aimed to bring awareness
and possibly help with some of those challenges.
The NC Rock Autism Music Festival is an amazing event that Daniel Jordan Band and other beautifully talented musicians participate in every August to raise money for other Autism related non-profits. Along with the support of volunteers and the community with
their unending generosity, the RAMF has raised almost $100,000 to date.
Five years later and the addition of a beautiful baby girl, Haevyn, we feel so very blessed for the kindness we have received for our project and hope to continue facilitating access of support and resources for families like ours.
Thank you to all of you for the years you have stood behind our cause and we hope you will continue to help us grow!!
Please head over to the NC Rock Autism Festival page, give us a like and a share and stay tuned for all of the fun details for this year's festival on August 27th!

Coming Soon – An Entrepreneur/Small Business Resource Hub
As you travel downtown on Church Street, you may have seen a property at the corner of Pool and Church Streets that is in the process of renovation. This property will soon become Entrepreneur Resources Business Support Center (Entre-BSC). Entrepreneur Resources is a new venture from the well-known business, Workforce Resources, Inc., and is being embarked upon to support entrepreneurs and small business owners in operating, innovating, and growing their businesses. We believe this dynamic space will fill a gap not currently being met in the Elizabeth City downtown area, and we hope it is a resource worth waiting for!
Located at 206 E. Church Street, this Center will provide two floors of reasonably-priced office space and serve as a platform for success. We will offer various flexible options for accessing the desired services with NO long-term contracts. So, whether you are in need of a commercial mailing address; desire phone answering services; require a place to work, hold business meetings, or conduct employee onboarding/training; or would benefit from collaborating with other business owners, Entre-BSC is the place for you! We will provide access to subject matter experts in areas such as business development, finance, project management, and government contracting; we will also offer administrative support services to assist with back-office tasks. It is anticipated to be a comfortable space that supports not only business operation but creativity and innovation as well.
We are hopeful that Entre-BSC will be up and running within the next six months. We’re down to the studs and ready to build back up. Our intent is to show progress on the renovation every other month or so; with those updates we will be able to better determine when our grand opening will be.
Should you have questions during the renovation period, feel free to contact us at (252) 336-6800, or take a peek at our website at www.Entre-bsc.com. We look forward to speaking with all interested parties in the very near future.
