Chamber Bi-Monthly Meeting Breakfast Edition
set for Wednesday, October 23rd at The Wood Tech Center
Focus: Randolph County's Workforce
You are invited to the Chamber’s Bi-Monthly Meeting on October 23. The meeting will take place at The Wood Tech Center, 10 Eleventh Street in Elkins. A continental breakfast will be served starting at 8:00 AM. The meeting will start at 8:15 and conclude by 9:00. Chamber members, guests, community members, and those interested in joining the Chamber are all welcome to attend. This meeting is free and open to all. Come learn what’s happening at The Chamber!

This month’s focus is Workforce. We will hear about three separate areas related to our region’s workforce. First, the Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee will present where we are with preparing our community to be Work Ready – ready to efficiently and effectively build our workforce. The Workforce Team will hear businesses’ concerns about the area’s workforce and what we can do together to improve the disconnect between employers and potential employees.

Second, this meeting will highlight a training workshop, spearheaded by the Economic Vitality Collaborative of the Chamber and Elkins Main Street and provided by Woodlands Development Group. This training workshop focuses on employee etiquette, particularly in regard to handling visitor’s questions about Randolph County, its amenities, etc.

Finally, you will learn about a new internship program, SHIP , spearheaded by the Chamber and D&E College. This exciting new initiative will be piloted in the summer of 2020 with ten interns (five from D&E and five from Randolph County who attend college out of our county) learning career, civic, and leadership skills over a nine-week program.
