Dear St. Paul’s family,
After 26 years of serving on our staff, Ellen Edwards will retire in early August. We celebrate Ellen’s steadfast ministry among us. She has nurtured the faith of countless children (and grown-ups!) over the years. Ellen and her family have been longtime St. Paul’s members and will continue to be a vital part of our church.

St. Paul’s Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) will begin the process of bringing on a new Director of Children’s Ministry by assembling a search committee in consultation with St. Paul’s Children’s Council. Lacey Webster will chair this committee, and congregational input will be encouraged through listening sessions.

The SPRC has decided to combine the full-time position of Director of Children’s Ministry with the part-time position of GROW (2nd-5th-grade Sunday School) Coordinator currently held by Mike Mosby. This consolidation of staff roles will achieve better organizational cohesion for children’s ministry (birth through 5th grade) as well as provide a cost savings to the church’s budget.

All of us on the SPRC would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Mosby and his wife Sharon for their dedicated work with GROW. We appreciate the time and energy the Mosbys have invested into St. Paul’s grade-schoolers and their families, and we are grateful they will continue their faithful volunteer work with Confirmation for 6th graders.

In the midst of this transition in children’s ministry—as well as the upcoming senior pastor transition—we recognize the difficulty of saying goodbye to people who have had such a profound impact on our faith community. Seasons of change are complex, and we navigate these seasons with a mixture of joy and grief. We trust God’s guidance and hold a hopeful spirit as we look forward to greeting new ministry leaders at St. Paul’s.

Our church family will celebrate Ellen's retirement later this summer and express our appreciation. You can look for more details coming soon!

With gratitude,
Ashlee Ross, Chair of SPRC
