Readers Have Conversations At Human Library Event

On April 22, the CWU EthicsLab brought the Human Library to the Hal Holmes Community Center. Instead of paperback books, actual people were on loan for conversation where topics subject to taboo, marginalization, or stigmatization were openly addressed without condemnation. Eight books were available and 25 readers attended the event. Reader response to the event was overwhelmingly positive.

Take The Natural Gas Survey

The City of Ellensburg is conducting its annual natural gas survey. The purpose of the survey is to verify you know what to do in the event of a natural gas leak. This year participants can take the survey online and enter to win Kittitas County Chamber gift cards or a Pit Boss 820SP Sportsman Wood Pellet Grill.

Safety is our #1 priority and making sure we reach our community with gas safety information is important to us. The Gas Division staff would like to thank you in advance for participating in the survey.

Did You Know?

Did you know May 3rd is Stan Bassett Day? In 2010 the Ellensburg City Council held a meeting at the then “Ellensburg Youth and Community Center” (EYCC), and surprised Stan by renaming the EYCC the “Stan Bassett Youth Center” (SBYC) in his honor. The City Council also declared May 3rd “Stan Bassett Day” to honor Stan for his decades of service on the Council, his support of youth programs, and his mentoring and guidance of youth, teens, college students, and adults.
