I am aware that I write to you at a time in which we are overwhelmed and challenged and maybe even frozen in place about the state of affairs in the US, Israel and elsewhere around the world. We wonder what we can do and how we can make a positive impact.
I recognize that I am very fortunate to lead an organization whose mission I am passionate about and where all of us make collective impact. I invite you to join us as we work to protect and expand women's rights and priorities, and build a just and equitable society.
This past year proved just how dramatically and quickly the world can change for women and minority groups. In the US, we have seen the roll back of abortion access, protections against domestic violence, and policies for women in the workplace. We have seen the purposeful erasure of women at the federal level, resulting in cuts to women's health research and funding, slashes in resources for nonprofits, and more. Each day seems to bring a new assault, and a new challenge.
In Israel, we are relieved to have the living hostages returned home, but we remain immensely aware of the short and long term impact of the October 7 massacre and the war in Gaza on all involved.
Here at Elluminate, we are surrounded and inspired by amazing Jewish women leaders, all visionaries and doers who we invest in and partner with. They are each proactively devising solutions to these pressing and urgent concerns and reenvisioning the world through a gender lens.
The quickly approaching Elluminate Convening is a strategic and critical space for Jewish women advancing equity and justice — tikkun olam — to come together with a gender lens to light a path forward in the US and Israel and around the world. At this moment, we are called to action and invite you to join us and pull up a seat at our collective table.
Warmly,
Melanie Roth Gorelick
CEO, Elluminate
