Building Update

A little later than expected, but the day has finally arrived that we can say,"Here we go!"
The construction fence is up, the Aula building has been emptied, and all utilities have been disconnected.

This week we have salvage operations and interior pre-demo work taking place, and a temporary wall is being built. The wall will be inside the front entrance to cover the brick wall and separate the school from the construction. The demolition is scheduled to begin next week.

Back to School Night: Thursday, August 22

Mark your calendars for a fun and exciting back-to-school evening here at TCGIS from 6:30-8:00pm. Come meet your child(ren)'s teachers and interns, drop off school supplies, learn about the PTO, Parent Council, and other volunteer opportunities, grab a calendar, and reconnect with friends! (Teacher assignments will be communicated to families on Monday, Aug. 19.)

Construction at our school will limit some of the space we are used to having for Back to School night, so we are making adjustments that we hope still ensure a celebratory, productive and fun back-to-school night for students, families and staff!

New this year:
  • Due to construction barricades on the Como side of the school, everyone will use the Van Slyke Avenue entrance.
  • There will be an all-school kick-off celebration on Van Slyke at 6:30 p.m. and then families will be welcomed in by grade level to find their classrooms (K-4) and to pick-up their schedules and find their lockers (grades 5-8).
  • Information tables for lunch orders, busing, Kinderclub, arrival + dismissal, Pikmykid, student schedules, calendars, etc., will be located throughout the building. Their locations will be identified on a Back-to-School "Passport" each child/family will receive upon arrival.
We look forward to seeing you August 22!
Health Office Updates for the 2019-20 School Year
If your child will need medication during the school day this coming year, please review the following information:
  • In order to administer medication to a student during the school day, we require this Medical Authorization Form, signed by both the health care provider and the parent/guardian.
  • All medication must be in its original package with valid expiration date and labeled with student's name.
  • At Back to School night on Thursday, Aug. 22nd, Health Office associate, Monika Avery, will be available to receive your child(ren)'s medication together with the completed authorization form.
  • If you would like an appointment to drop off medication and the authorization form, or to plan how we can support your child during the school day, please email Monika Avery (mavery@tcgis.org).

School Bus Updates

We are pleased to offer school bus transportation to TCGIS students again this coming school year. We have reduced the number of routes from 5 to 4 routes, but have not reduced the number of stops, rather we have reallocated some stops to a different route.  Please review this Google map of bus stops to identify which stop and route your child(ren) will use in the 2019-20 school year.

USATF membership in 2020 will be connected to TCGIS track registration.

New to the calendar: We are officially in a conference with Yinghua Academy and a few other private and charter schools, which will add a few smaller meets to our schedule. Additionally, our 7th and 8th graders will be competing at one of the largest meets in the nation: the  Milaca Mega Meet!

We also use $5 Target gift cards for our middle school students. Staff choose from $10 Target/Amazon/Caribou gift cards or a prime parking spot in our lot.
