Board Announcements
Distinguished TCGIS Volunteer Recognition at Tonight's Board Meeting

The Twin Cities German Immersion School Board of Directors would like to formally recognize and thank several individuals and groups for their significant contributions of time and talent to support TCGIS this past school year. The board will remark about the contributions of these volunteers at the June 27th board meeting between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm in room 100. The list of honorees will be included in the public board packet and can also be viewed here. We are grateful for their substantial volunteer efforts in support of the school.
TCGIS Legal Proceedings Update

Legal counsel, board members and administration have been working diligently on the litigation strategy for the hearing on July 1. We submitted our legal brief, witness list and exhibit list on June 21. We are now evaluating the plaintiff's written response in further preparation for the hearing. The judge will make a decision regarding the request for temporary restraining order, which would prevent demolition on the planned timeline. Meanwhile, the facilities committee and contractors continue work to secure required city permits to proceed with the project if the temporary restraining order is denied.

This is a public proceeding starting at 9 am at the Ramsey County Courthouse (which is in the same building as City Council), 15 W. Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul MN 55102. While we are not encouraging vocal, political support, any interested citizen may attend.
Upcoming Meetings

All board and committee meetings are open to the public and we encourage attendance and participation. Please check the  online school calendar for possible date changes.

Positive Community Building at Orchard Park

Thank you to TCGIS families that participated in the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation volunteer clean-up last Saturday at Orchard Park, just a half-mile away from the school. Along with other Como community members, TCGIS students and parents helped
repaint benches and railings, trimmed bushes, pulled weeds, and cleaned storage areas. The TCGIS Board provided frozen treats to all volunteers from the community. We look forward to participating in more community building events like this!

Thank you, Parent Volunteers!

We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who volunteered in myriad ways to support our school community this year! Your time, energy, generosity, and talents make TCGIS an amazing place to learn and work.

Here are some of the many ways parents have volunteered this year:

Hosting an Intern - Eltern Kontakt - Parent Council - Field Trip Chaperones
Lost & Found - Book Fair - Staff Appreciation Potlucks - Intern Breakfasts
Capstone Committee - Library Support - St. Martinstag support
Carnival of Cultures support - New Families Welcome Picnic - End of Year Picnic

 Herzlichen Dank!
Packing up the Aula and Cafeteria

In the event that TCGIS is able to move forward with the building project, we will need some parent help packing up the Sport, Kinderclub, and cafeteria items, as well as moving some things across the street for storage. If you're able to volunteer a few hours the week of July 8-12, that'd be wonderful! Please email Andy Nesset for more information.
Do you have marketing doo-dads to donate?

Do you work for a business that has a marketing closet full of stuff that nobody wants?! We will take your stress balls, earbuds, computer mice, fancy pens and pencils, frisbees, and other fun stuff to use as student rewards for our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program at TCGIS! We also use $5 Target gift cards for our middle school students. Staff choose from $10 Target/Amazon/Caribou gift cards or a prime parking spot in our lot. [Food is never used as a reward per TCGIS school policy.]

You can drop off these items at the PBIS table during our Family Back to School Night on August 22. If you have any questions, please contact Michael White, PBIS Coach.
