FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Elyria Catholic High School is pleased to announce that alumnus Jake Hromada, Class of 2014, will serve as the Commencement Speaker for the Class of 2026.
Returning to campus where his own journey began, Hromada will address graduates as they prepare
to begin the next chapter of their lives.
Hromada currently serves as Manager of Broadcast and Digital Content for Ole Miss Athletics at the
University of Mississippi, where he works at the center of one of the nation’s most dynamic
collegiate athletic programs. In this role, he helps produce multimedia coverage for Division I
athletics. He serves as a play-by-play broadcaster for multiple Ole Miss sports on the SEC Network+ platform, including basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer.
After graduating from Elyria Catholic in 2014, Hromada attended Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication, widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading journalism programs. He earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (2018) and a Master’s degree (2020) while building experience in sports broadcasting, digital media production, and storytelling.
Today, Hromada’s work helps bring the excitement of collegiate athletics to audiences across the country through live broadcasts, digital media production, and on-air commentary.
Reflecting on the opportunity to return to Elyria Catholic, Hromada shared: “Elyria Catholic gave me the confidence to pursue what I loved and the foundation to believe that big opportunities can start in a small place. I’m honored to return and celebrate the Class of 2026 as they begin writing their own stories.”
Elyria Catholic President Annie Heidersbach expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Hromada back to campus.
“Jake’s journey from Elyria Catholic student to sports broadcaster working in one of the nation’s premier collegiate athletic programs is inspiring. We are delighted to welcome him home to encourage and celebrate the Class of 2026.”
As a school committed to its mission—to empower young adults to identify and use their God-given gifts to learn, worship, and serve, guided by Catholic tradition—Elyria Catholic looks forward to the message Jake Hromada will share with graduates as they prepare for the future.
Commencement for the Elyria Catholic Class of 2026 will take place on Friday, May 22 in the Elyria Catholic Coliseum, where graduates, families, faculty, and friends of the Panther community will gather to celebrate this important milestone.
