Multi-Campus Collaboration to Establish Open-Source Library of Digital Engineering Education Resources

The U.S. Department of Education has funded a three-year, $2.1 million project for Colorado State University and partner institutions to create and expand access to interactive visualizations for engineering courses, saving students an estimated $75,000 a year while increasing accessibility and comprehension.

The project, “Visualize Engineering Concepts Through Open Resources (VECTOR),” is a collaborative effort led by CSU and includes Colorado State University Pueblo and Colorado School of Mines. Across the three campuses, experts in open educational resources, statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics will pool their collective knowledge to establish a library of open-source interactive engineering visualizations and models

NEW: Search & Screen Committee and Chair Training

On behalf of HRIE

Get ready for a special Friday edition of search and screen committee training!

This training will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams -- let's face it, who doesn't love a good video call?

The session is split into two parts:

The first 90 minutes is for all committee members.

The final 30 minutes is the additional training required for those brave souls who want to take on the role of committee chair (you’ve got this!).

Got burning questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out to CSU Pueblo's Employment Specialist, Maggie Miller, at margaret.miller@csupueblo.edu. She’s happy to help!

No registration necessary. Just show up, soak up the knowledge, and remember—attendance will be taken (yes, we’re keeping an eye on you 😉).

Everyone is welcome, so let’s make this training the place to be!

See you there!

NEW: Passwords: Keep a Manager!

On behalf of the Department of Information Technology

We're always told not to reuse passwords and keep a strong password. Eventually, that gets too difficult to remember and your risk of being compromised increases. Most of us have lots of online passwords these days so creating different passwords for all of them while also remembering them gets to be a chore.

Why should you get one?

Your information can be compromised if you just have one weak password you forgot to change. This leads to bad actors having access to your account for nefarious purposes. If your email got compromised, for example, the bad actor now has access to freely send phishing scams using your email.

Consider using a password manager! There are plenty of free and inexpensive ones out there. Here are a few to check out!

1. BitWarden - Free to use, inexpensive to upgrade (Free version is good enough here!)

2. 1Password - Acts as a password manager and authenticator app (Inexpensive monthly rate)

3. NordPass - Most convenient password manager with built in two-factor authentication (Inexpensive).

Why not have the browser save your passwords?

While browsers offer a basic password manager, like Google Chrome and Safari do, they are limited. Most other password managers sync all of your info across your different devices and platforms.

Protect you and your organization's info by protecting your passwords first! Your risk of having your information or your organization's information compromised decreases greatly!

Trick-or-Treating on Campus

On behalf of the Child Care Center

CSU Pueblo Offices:

We hope everyone is doing well and ready for autumn. As the days grow cooler and shorter, the staff at the ECEMS @ CSU-Pueblo Child Care Center is preparing for our Fall activities. One of our activities that our children enjoy the most is “Trick or Treating “on campus for Halloween. This activity provides a safe environment for our little ones to have fun participating in an old tradition.

As in previous years, we will be taking the children dressed in costumes to participating departments to Trick or Treat on Thursday, October 31st beginning at 9:30 am. The need to map out our trip is essential, as our little ones will be doing a lot of walking. We will be walking through the following buildings: OSC-Student Center (9:45-10:10am), the LARC Building (10:15-10:30), the Administration (10:45-11:15am), and the REC Center (11:30-11:45). We are asking departments that would like to participate and provide treats (enough for at least 70 children) for our children, to e-mail us at ( Maricela Palma, Center Director) maricela.palma@colostate-pueblo.edu or (Rita Samora, Center director) rita.e.samora@colostate-pueblo.edu or call EXT: 2745 (by Friday, October 25th ) and let us know so we can include your department in our trip. If your department would like to participate but you are not located in any of these building above, you could either drop off treats at the center or setup a station in one of the buildings to hand out treats.

As always, we thank you for your participation in this event and other activities. The children would not have this opportunity if it were not for your kindness and participation.

US Premiere, "Voices at the End" Performance - PKAF Festival

On behalf of the Music Department

Voices at the End is described as a digital and acoustic hybrid concerto for six pianos, audio track, and video. Its digital audio landscape comprises a pre-recorded soundscape of recitations, singing and instrumental performances created by Psathas in collaboration with the multi-media artist and composer David Downes. Of Voices at the End, Psathas observes it ‘tackles the uncomfortable condition of perpetual growth and its ruinous effect on our shared environment but offers hope in the form of the work being done to ensure the survival of our species’.
