The next meeting of the CSU Pueblo chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) on Thursday, April 25th from 2-3:30PM in LARC 108 will revolve around a presentation on shared governance between university administrations and their faculty. The AAUP invented this concept over a century ago, and its national in-house expert on shared governance, Mike De Cesare, will be appearing via Zoom to tell us about what it is and how it is being applied on campuses across the country. We will also have an update on our ongoing efforts to increase faculty raises for next year. Everyone who teaches at CSU Pueblo is welcome to attend.

Classified Open Enrollment

On behalf of Human Resources

The State of Colorado’s FY 2024-25 OE begins on April 9 and ends on April 29, 2024, at 10:59 p.m. MT. This year, OE is passive, meaning if employees don't make changes to their benefits, their current benefits elections will roll into the next plan year, except for FSAs which require a new election each year.

ALL employees should verify their benefits in benefitsolver (our access code is “soc”). The selections in benefitsolver will remain the employee’s benefits elections for the upcoming year. Changes are only allowed in limited circumstances after open enrollment is complete. Please contact Loretta McDaniel in Human Resources with any questions.

All catering bookings will be processed using a P-Card, replacing the use of an index code/account number.

If Order Exceeds P-Card Limit:

If the catering expense is expected to exceed the P-Card limit of $3,000, you will need to initiate a purchase order in the KFS system. This should be completed at minimum 10 days prior to the event. A purchase order number should be sent to Jerry Carter with Aladdin.

If Your Department Does Not Have a P-Card:

You will need to work with Cabinet-level supervisory authorities to utilize division or other department cards.

Authorized Business Function Forms (ABFFs):

To ensure seamless service, all ABFFs must be submitted at minimum, 10 days prior to the event. Please note that Aladdin has been instructed not to service any catering without the submission of this form or a P-card on file.

Payment Confirmation:

For transactions processed through the P-Card, you will receive a "Paid" invoice upon the completion of your event. This invoice will serve as your official receipt for the transaction.

If you have questions or need further clarification on the new billing process, reach out to Josh Gurley at extension 2611.

On behalf of the Psychology Department

Are you fascinated by topics like:

4. Alien life/star visitors, e.g., UFOs, alien contact experiences?

This special topics course will examine scientific research on these topics, encouraging students to generate their own testable hypotheses (e.g., how to use the scientific method to test whether a psychic medium is: 1. somehow reading a person's mind about a deceased loved one, 2. actually receiving messages from deceased loved ones, 3. a fraud). Additionally, the course will explore various cultural beliefs and customs worldwide pertaining to these fascinating topics, encouraging the practice of cultural humility and respect for diverse ways of knowing.

The class will be offered Fall 2024 Monday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:20pm.

NEW: PHRS 491: Staring into the Void - A Study of Mystics and Mysticism

On behalf of Philosophy and Religious Studies

Mystics are found in every world religion. In Islam they are called Sufis. In Christianity, they are saints. In Judaism, they are Kabbalists. In Hinduism they are gurus. To fully understand religion we must dive into the mystical elements of each, asking questions about how they each deal with the Absolute and also why and how so often mystical groups become cults. In this class, we will explore the various types of mystics throughout the religious world. We will read what they’re written and ponder the questions they pose. And we will apply mysticism to our own lives by creating our own mystic tradition! This course is open to anyone, regardless of year or major!
