A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:
Friday night is our first home football game against Frisco Lone Star. You will note below we have some construction underway at Lovejoy High School which has cost us 69 parking spaces. As in years past, we will run a continual shuttle from the high school to Grace Church and to Hart Elementary. I hope we have a large crowd on Friday night at Leopard Stadium.

SAT Prep Course

Enroll Now...Space is limited

As we continue to explore revenue generating ideas for our school district, many of you have suggested we look at areas where our parent community is already spending money outside of the district. Toward that end, we are adding SAT Test Prep beginning on September 18th.  For additional information, click here:  Test Prep

North Texas Giving Day

Dear Lovejoy Community,
Tomorrow is North Texas Giving Day (NTXGD).  NTXGD is typically a day on which charitable organizations in our area receive their greatest quantity of donations.  The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools (FLS) is one of the charitable organizations participating in NTXGD, and one which directly impacts the experience of students in Lovejoy. The FLS supports teacher grant requests, which are vetted by the teachers each year through our Invest in Excellence committees.
Invest in Excellence is a process which was developed in partnership with our Foundation for Lovejoy Schools ten years ago to ensure your generous donations are having the most positive impact on our district programs. Invest in Excellence is a teacher-driven process which facilitates the strong partnership between the FLS and the District.
By the end of January, all teachers have the opportunity to submit grant request forms describing the items they would like to have funded to enhance the learning experiences of their students. These grant requests are reviewed by the Invest in Excellence Committee, which is comprised of a few teachers from each campus. The Invest in Excellence Committee prioritizes the grant requests based on the impact of the proposal on the experiences of our students and/or our community.
Based on the available funds raised from both the Annual Appeal and Denim & Diamonds, the Foundation grant committee and the Foundation Board determine which prioritized grant submissions can be funded.  Fortunately, a large number of the prioritized grant submissions are funded because of the tremendous generosity of the Lovejoy community.  Last May, the FLS provided funds totaling $451,100 for teacher grants and district-wide technology needs.
On North Texas Giving Day and during this time of the Annual Appeal campaign, please know your donation is being invested in the enhancements requested and prioritized by our teachers through the Invest in Excellence process.

We hope you continue to love where you learn.  If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell at 214.385.1967.

District-Wide News

Lovejoy ISD Pre-Kindergarten
Space Available

Our district has offered a Pre-K program as a part of our employee daycare program for the past 11 years. On the suggestion of parents, we decided to expand that program and offer a tuition-based program open to our community. We currently have two Pre-K classrooms open at Puster Elementary. This program offers enhancements in music, fitness, art, library, science, technology, engineering, and math. We are enthusiastic about providing a Lovejoy education for community members looking for a rich learning experience which will provide a firm foundation for kindergarten and beyond.  The first week of school we received an email from a parent with a child in the program and this is what she said:
"My daughter loves her new school and runs to get dressed every morning (used to throw a fit). Her teachers are great."
If you are interested in applying, please click here .  To schedule a tour of the Pre-Kindergarten program, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003.

Hurricane Relief

In light of the devastation caused by Harvey, Anthony Tang (LHS Senior) is leading the way to help those affected by the hurricane. From sorting toothbrushes to organizing fundraising drives in the district, Anthony has been doing anything he can to help the cause.
Anthony, a senior at Lovejoy High, first learned of the traumatic impacts of the storm when he contacted a childhood friend who lives in Houston. "My buddy's family was fortunately not severely affected because his house is on higher ground, but many other houses in surrounding neighborhoods were flooded and ruined. I can't imagine the troubles those families are facing, but I want to help in any way I can." Anthony has reached out and partnered with Trusted World and Salvation Army, and has delivered boxes of donations to be transported from their warehouses. "It makes me smile to see how genuinely cooperative people are in this time of need. Everyone I have worked with seems so willing to help."
Anthony is requesting the help of fellow Leopards.  There is a need for clothes and shoes, especially for youth. Other supplies in need include Adult X-Large T-Shirts and undergarments, as well as Women's Sports-bras. If you wish to donate supplies or help support this cause, please contact Anthony at:
