News from Interim Superintendent Dr. Dennis Womack

Dear Lovejoy Community:

Yesterday afternoon, Kevin Parker, Principal of Puster Elementary, announced he would be leaving Lovejoy ISD to pursue a career with a local safety and security firm, Enseo. Mr. Parker accepted a position with Enseo as the Director of Education Solutions. As a reminder, Lovejoy ISD installed the Enseo Made Safe notification system (duress buttons the teachers and staff have on their lanyards) this past summer. In his communication with the Puster parents, Mr. Parker said, “You have heard me repeatedly state that ensuring your child’s safety is the most important thing we do as a school. This opportunity will allow me to work with a broader range of schools and take care of students across the country.” He further stated, "...this decision was in no way related to, or impacted by, the recent events in the district." Mr. Parker has worked for Lovejoy ISD for the past 12 years and has served as Principal of Puster Elementary for the last four years. While I am saddened that Mr. Parker is leaving the District, I am equally excited about what he will accomplish in the future at Enseo. Please click here to read the communication Mr. Parker sent to the Puster parents.
For those of you who have been asking about contacting legislators regarding school funding, we are anticipating a school funding bill to be filed in the House and Senate no later than the end of next week. Chairman Dan Huberty (R-Humble) announced this past Tuesday during the House Public Education Committee hearing, their plan to file a school finance bill later this week. The deadline to file bills is March 8. Once the bills are filed and made public, we will review and inform you of the potential effect on Lovejoy ISD.
This past week was filled with many exciting experiences for our students. Just to name a few – the LHS Wrestling Team competed at State and brought home gold, the WSMS Color Guard took first place at Mansfield, and the LHS Men’s Basketball Team competed in the Area Round of playoffs. This coming weekend will feature the Lovejoy High School Choir and Band’s presentation of Java and Jazz on Friday night and the second Annual STEM Festival will be held on Saturday at LHS.
Following, you will find information regarding a wide variety of experiences in which our students excel. It certainly is great to be in Lovejoy. We are continuously #lovejoyproud and hope you and your family #lovewhereyoulearn.
With respect and admiration,
Dr. Dennis Womack
LISD Interim Superintendent

Circle of Partners
Lovejoy ISD is focused on generating new sources of revenue to offset our loss of state funding. Our goal is to protect our programs and avoid charging fees for items such as riding the bus. If you have a need for any of the following services, you can help generate revenue for the district by choosing members of the Circle of Partners . Our partners have pledged a charitable giveback (10% or more) to Lovejoy ISD for any business within the district.
Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.

Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of 1 letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.

What's your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. Tutoring 101 helps high scorers get top scores, average students raise their scores and poor test takers achieve the scores colleges want. Tutoring 101 students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.
Classes are conveniently located at Lovejoy High School. Call 972.359.0222 or email for additional information.
