A Message from the  Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

It has been a great week in Lovejoy as we continue to celebrate student successes during the summer months. Please read below to enjoy the accomplishments of Lovejoy students in a wide variety of pursuits.

Lovejoy ISD Ranked 3rd
Highest Peforming School District
in Texas

SchoolDigger is an online research organization that ranks schools throughout the United States. In Texas, schools are ranked based on test scores obtained from the Texas Education Agency. They calculate an Average Standard Score by normalizing and averaging each school's test scores across all tests and grades. The average scores are then sorted to determine the rankings in the state.
SchoolDigger released their Texas results earlier this week with Lovejoy ranked 3rd in Texas (out of 1,040 school districts) behind Southlake Carroll (1) and Highland Park (2). The ranking scores from some local and well-known Texas districts are as follows:
Ranking Score
Southlake Carroll
Highland Park
Eanes (Austin/Westlake)
Lake Travis
As you can see, there is only a .009 difference between Lovejoy and Southlake Carroll. This is certainly a testament to the students you entrust us with each day and to our team of dedicated professionals. We are #lovejoyproud.

LHS Student Participates in
Boys State 2018

Congratulations to Pierce Richardson, LHS Class of 2019, on his selection to participate in Boys State 2018 and his election to serve on the House of Representatives Culture Committee. The Statesmen are assigned to fictitious political parties, nationalists or federalists. They explore the workings of government as they elect their own officials, learn the duties of the various city, county and state offices, and introduce and debate their own bills in a mock legislature. This year's Texas Boys State passed more laws than any previous Texas Boys State group.

LHS Student Participates in
Girls State 2018

Congratulations to Evie McGowan, Lovejoy High School Class of 2019, for her selection to participate in Girls State 2018 and her election to serve as Senate Whip.
Texas Bluebonnet Girls State is a mythical 51st state where, for one week, participants, or "citizens", organize their own city, county, and state governments. They elect their own officials, learn the duties of the various city, county and state offices. Citizens introduce and debate their own bills in a mock legislature. The program seeks to:
  • Educate youth in the duties, privileges, and responsibilities of American citizenship;
  • Give future citizens an opportunity to learn the problems of government by performing the same duties as real office holders in the everyday world;
  • Inform them of the rights and privileges of American citizenship;
  • Instill a deep sense of the personal responsibilities and obligations, which this citizenship entails.

2018 USA Fencing
National Champion

Kent Iyoki , a rising 7th grader at Willow Springs Middle School, completed his fencing season with incredible results.
Kent competed in the 2018 USA Fencing National Championships from June 28th - July 7th. This is the largest national fencing competition in the United States and was held in St. Louis, Missouri. Kent took first place, out of 181 qualified fencers, in the Men's Epee (Y12 classification) and brought home the national champion gold medal and trophy. With this win, Kent maintained his national #1 ranking and annual champion title.
Congratulations to Kent on this tremendous accomplishment.
