Dear Reader

The long expected unification of the UP and the DP parties as the United Democratic Party is official: " United Democrats".

The new party will be submitting their list of candidates this afternoon at 3:30pm at the Main Voting Bureau, which will be holding office at the House of Parliament. Below is a list of times parties will be submitting their candidate lists to the MVB.

With Nomination Day being held today, Friday, January 5th, Mike Ferrier contends in his Letter to the Editor that after today, odds are that finally an interim cabinet will be allowed to be sworn in. You can take today's poll to indicate what you think the odds are indeed.

But the bigger question being implied here is the question whether the snap elections being organized can still be postponed by the incoming interim cabinet. Odds are that with the parties now presenting their lists, the chances of the interim cabinet being able to postpone the elections are zero to none. "Gedane zaken nemen geen keer" they say in Dutch. So what's done is done.

The odds were in our favor that a majority of our poll-takers would vote to have a newscast published daily or weekly by StMaartenNews.com. Only one person voted against. We think a mistake was made. We demand a recount. So we have published another newscast today below in this newsletter. This time from SXM Daily News by RIcardo Williams (formerly of AVS News).

With the news that local independent tv producers are left without a broadcasting medium for their programs, we at StMaartenNews.com gladly offer these local producers a platform for their newscasts. Even Andrew Dick with his parody shows are welcome.

We welcome all forms of news entertainment shows as long as they have substance worthy of our readers (and viewers). We intend to use our email delivery platform to not only bring you news, views, reviews and interviews in written form, but also in the audio-visual format as well.

We will continue to refine and develop our StMaartenNews.com product.

Happy Nomination Day!

The Publisher,
