Dear reader,

It has been an interesting 8 weeks journey since I decided to throw my hat into the ring and enter the political arena on Postulation Day, November 21, 2019. Thursday, January 9, 2020, was Election Day. It was a very interesting day.

Our SMCP party lost. But I am not deterred because this was my first step into the political arena and it was a very good learning experience. Now the next step is to set up a foundation to continue my work. The TREY Initiative continues. In the meantime, I would like to thank all the voters that voted for me. Their support is greatly appreciated.

With that I would like to make some administrative announcements.

1) Today we start with the publishing of news articles in Dutch as well. See below in the new section " News In Dutch".

2) StMaartenNews.com has a new writer: Jacqueline Hooftman. You will be learning more about her as time goes by.

3) You can subscribe or renew your subscription for 2020 online at https://stmaartennews.com/subscriptions.

Finally, I would like to congratulate all the winning parties and I would especially like to congratulate all the candidates (re-)elected to Parliament. I wish you all much wisdom, courage and strength in the execution of your tasks on behalf of the country of St. Maarten and its people.

A worthy and special shout out to Tswana Nunes-Burleson (SMCP), Kedisha Vidal (NA), Anna Richardson (NA), Melissa Gumbs (PFP), Dr. Rhoda Arrindell (UP), Jorien Wuite (UD) and last, but not least, Ludmilla De Weever (UP). All deserving in their own rights to be the people's representatives.

Best regards,

Terrance Rey
