MP-status Frans Richardson called into question

Dear Reader

Yet another example of St. Maarten as a growing country with the unique situation of having two nations on a small island with open borders and their citizens freely crossing the borders not only to work but also to live.

We famously had the privilege of having a prime minister who lives on the French side. Now we have a member of Parliament who also lives on the French side of Saint Martin. Though technically they both are registered on the Dutch side.

How the Main Voting Bureau will solve this bit of a predicament, typical of the growing pains of a small island country in development, is a matter not only for the chairman of the MVB but also for the chairlady of Parliament of Sint Maarten to fix this little bit of legislation. Luckily, the chairman of the MVB is a legal mind and we can expect a sound decision in this case.

Nevertheless, there is now a legislative task for Parliament to tackle immediately while the formation of the next governing cabinet is still ongoing. Good luck!

Have a great day citizens of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.
