Dear Reader
We commissioned our newest
cartoon before the
news broke that the board of the University of St. Martin (USM) Foundation turned down the offer from government to 'rescue' the university. This news has been confirmed by the ministry of Education in an extensive
press release issued last night.
Granted, we did publish the
news story that government's money will run out at the end of the month. Maybe the BUSMF didn't want to be saddled with yet another empty promise of financial support with
no money in government's coffers. But who ever saw that one coming?
Guessing that the Collectivité had enough of Dutch side ministers comparing the state of the Dutch side to the French side, the Collectivité has embarked on a massive clean up of
car wrecks and
dump sites on the French side. See the relevant French side news stories below in this email newsletter, including the
news of the planned visit of French minister of Labor, Muriel Pénicaud.
In the
case of pensioner, Ms. Fernet Payne, being annoyed by the Smart Homes' development project, the Ombudsman stated in a
press release that her entity is not the competent authority to investigate this matter. However, when the department of VROMI fails to take appropriate actions in this
case, a future complaint about this lack of action on the part of VROMI to the Ombudsman should have validity.
In the meantime, enjoy the newsletter and have a great day.
The Publisher,

Part 2 - How to avoid demolition accidents
Proper planning is essential to ensure a demolition operation is conducted with no accidents or injuries. This includes, but is not limited to:
- An engineering survey completed by an expert before any demolition work takes place. This should include an assessment of the condition of the structure and the possibility of an unplanned collapse.
- Locating, securing, and/or relocating any nearby utilities.
- Fire prevention and evacuation plan.
- First Aid and Emergency Medical Services, etc.
As much as it is known that certain accidents are unavoidable, with proper planning and precaution, certain accident incidents can be avoided.
In part 3 we will assess the possible risks of this planned airport demolition undertaking.
