Dear Reader

There is a saying in the airline industry that to become a millionaire in this business you have to start out as a billionaire. With sadness in our hearts we read the news that Curacao-based Inselair has been given another two months before the judge may have to pull the plug on that airline operation. We do not expect a solution on such a short term for the airline company. On the other hand, we see Windward Islands-based Winair making a very strategic move to enter into discussions with its counterpart on the ABC islands, Divi Divi Air. In this day and age, surviving in turbulent times requires cooperation of the kind where each maintains their own strengths and unique characteristics that have enabled both regional airline companies to have succeeded individually all these years in their respective regions and markets providing much needed air connectivity between the islands. However, we also believe that cooperation from the aviation authorities is also required in order to be adaptive and competitive in today's aviation industry with the economic realities facing the regions and the Caribbean as a whole. We look forward to any positive news of a joint cooperation between both Twin-Otter-focused aviation companies. We also wish Inselair much strength and good luck the coming months.

In the meantime...

Happy readings to our readers!
