A BIT OF POLITICAL TRIVIA RECEIVED VIA WHATSAPP

The only constant in life is change.
This is what the change has done for politics in St. Maarten.

Based on some research and thanks also to Jean Barry Hodge (WhatsApp message), I have concluded the following:

A. Most ship jumpers are first time MP's.

Patrick Illidge, Romain Laville, Maurice Lake, Silvio Master, Leona Marlin, Cornelius de Weever, Chanell Brownbill and Luc Mercelina

B. Most ship jumpers are new comers to the political party and arena.

1. Romain Laville ran on the UP slate for 1st time in the 2010 election. Jumped ship and formed a new Government twice in 2012 ( DP/NA/Illidge/Frans/Laville)and 2014 (UP/DP/Laville)
2. Leona Marlin ran on the USP slate for the 1st time in 2014 (2010 NA). Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2014 (UP/DP/Marlin-Romeo/De Weever).
3. Cornelius de Weever ran on the DP slate for the 1st time in 2014. Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2014 (UP/DP/Marlin-Romeo/De Weever).
4. Maurice Lake ran on the UP slate for the 1st time in 2014. Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2015. (NA/USP/Lake/Master)
5. Silvio Master ran on the UP slate for the 1st time in 2014. Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2015. (NA/USP/Lake/Master)
6. Chanell Brownbill ran on the USP slate for the 1st time in 2016 (2014 with UP). Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2018. (UP/DP/Brownbill).
7. Chanell Brownbill ran on the UD slate for the 1st time in 2018 (2014 with UP, 2016 with USP). Jumped ship and formed a new Government in 2019 (NA/USP/Brownbill/Mercelina).
