Raquel's Journey to Independence and Safety

This device allows her supporters to monitor her location, giving everyone peace of mind whether she's at home or out in the community. While the device is free, the cost of remote monitoring for this device is covered by her budget, enabling Raquel to enjoy her independence while staying safe!

After learning about a GPS tracking device specifically designed for individuals with autism who may be prone to wandering, Raquel's mother and the Support Coordinator discussed its benefits. The SC then collaborated with a community vendor and the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to implement the assistive technology, ensuring Raquel's safety while allowing her to maintain her independence.
