Virtual Interaction Between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Joseph R. Biden
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joseph R. Biden held a virtual meeting on 11 April 2022. Minister of Defence Mr. Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar were also present at the White House during the interaction, along with their US counterparts, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two leaders had an extensive exchange of views on several regional and global issues, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, global economic recovery, climate action, recent developments in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, and the situation in Ukraine.
Fourth India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III welcomed Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar to Washington, D.C., on April 11, 2022, for the fourth India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. An extensive agenda comprising Global Partnership, Indo-Pacific Cooperation, Mutual Prosperity, Innovation, Resilient Supply Chains, Climate Action, Environment, Clean Energy, Science, Technology, Cybersecurity, Space, Global Health, Defence and Security, Counter Terrorism, Counter Narcotics, Education and People-to-People ties was covered during the Dialogue. A joint statement was issued. Both Ministers also held bilateral meetings with their respective counterparts
India-U.S. to establish a Working Group on Education and Skill Training
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar participated in a conversation with students, faculty, and scholars at the Howard University on 12 April, announcing the intent to establish a Working Group on Education and Skill Training. Both India and US expressed their support to promoting student and scholar mobility to build people-to-people linkages between the two countries.
Minister of Defense Mr. Rajnath Singh visits US Indo-Pacific Command headquarters in Hawaii
Following the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the USINDOPACOM headquarters, Pacific Fleet and the training facilities in Hawai. He paid tributes at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and visited the Headquarters of the US Army Pacific. Separately, in Washington DC, the Defence Minister had held meetings with senior executives of Boeing and Raytheon

Continuing his engagement with the Biden administration , following ‘2+2’ event, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had meetings with U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
FM Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman visits US: Holds substantive and wide ranging engagements
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited US on 18-27 April 2022. Besides attending the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – World Bank (WB) Spring Meetings, she met with WB Group President David Malpass, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, held bilateral meetings with counterparts from other countries and attended FATF Ministerial Meeting. In the bilateral context, the Minister met Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and met with CEOs of top US companies from key sectors such as semiconductors, IT, logistics, supply chains, clean energy etc. The Finance Minister held eight roundtables with investors/industry experts/academia during the San Francisco leg of her visit.
Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia visits US
Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia visited US on 28-29 April 2022. He met representatives of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Pratt and Whitney, Blade Air Mobility, and visited the Air Route Traffic Centre at Long Island. The minister also attended two roundtables – one with member companies of the US-India Business Council and the other with the diaspora.
India Could Become Carbon Neutral Before its 2070 Goal, IRENA Chief Says
India's focus on decarbonising its steel sector and developing offshore wind power will help it become carbon neutral ahead of its promised goal of 2070, Francesco La Camera , Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency said. La Camera said India was also "on track" to reach its 2030 commitment to produce 50% of its energy from non-fossil fuels.
$113 Billion in 2021: India-U.S. Goods Trade Marks New Record
In yet another sign of the deepening economic relationship between India and the United States, bilateral trade in goods between the two countries crossed the $100 billion mark in 2021, making it the largest volume of goods trade in a calendar year in India-US economic history. It represents an almost 45% jump from 2020, and while US trade with its top 15 partners increased over the past year, the single biggest jump was with India.
Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral John Aquilino visited India
Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral John Aquilino visited India to participate in the Raisina Dialogue, India's premier foreign policy and geo-economics conference. Army Chief Gen MM Naravane and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari held separate talks with Admiral John Aquilino.

India and U.S. Sign Bilateral Space Situational Awareness Arrangement
The agreement was signed by officials of the two countries on the sidelines of the India-US 2+2 ministerial co-hosted by the US side in Washington D.C. This will support greater information sharing and cooperation in space.
India approves 2 vaccines for kids under 12 years
India’s drug regulator approved the emergency use of two Covid-19 vaccines, for children under the age of 12 years. These include Baylor College of Medicine (Texas) - Biological E’s Corbevax and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. It is seen as a milestone move that paves the way for enhancing the country’s vaccination drive.
India introduces four new schemes under the ‘Semicon India programme’ 
India introduced four new schemes under the ‘Semicon India programme’ providing financial support to companies investing in semiconductors, display manufacturing and design ecosystem in India. India is one of the leading centers for global semiconductor design companies. Most global semiconductor design companies have set up design R&D innovation centers in India owing to exceptional semiconductor design talent pool making up to 20% of world’s semiconductor design engineers and high number of design Patents/ IPR registered in India.
