Fall Is Coming…

Even If Texas Hasn’t Gotten the Memo

Happy September, Grace family!

The calendar says fall is almost here. The stores have pumpkins everywhere. Football is back. Pumpkin spice has apparently taken over the world.

And outside?

Well...Texas is still Texas.

But there is something about September that feels like a new beginning. School is back in session, routines are settling in, and the pace of life begins to shift. Here at Grace, we’re stepping into a new season too—and there is a lot happening!

Before we get to all of that, though, I want to remind you of something I’ve been thinking about as we begin this new season.

Ecclesiastes tells us:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

We tend to think of seasons as things happening around us. Summer becomes fall. Children go back to school. Calendars fill up. Holidays approach.

But God works in seasons within us, too.

There are seasons of growth and seasons of waiting. Seasons when God seems to be opening doors everywhere we look, and seasons when we are simply learning to trust Him with the next step.

Whatever season you find yourself in right now, you don’t have to rush through it to get to the next one. God is already there. He is at work in this season, too.

And as we move into fall together at Grace, my prayer is that we will pay attention to what God is doing—not only in our own lives, but in the life of our church and in the community around us.

Because there are some wonderful opportunities ahead to worship, grow, gather, serve, laugh, eat (Methodists are very good at that part), and invite others to experience the love of Jesus with us.

In love and service,

Pastor Lisa

No Yoga This Week

Just a quick reminder that there will be no Yoga tomorrow, Thursday, September 3.

Classes will resume as normal next week, so we’ll see you back on the mat then!

And this is a great time to invite someone to join you! Our Yoga class is open to everyone, so bring a friend, neighbor, or someone who could use a little movement and fellowship in their week.

Please help us spread the word!

Sunday, September 6 — A New Sermon Series Begins!

This Sunday we begin:

Blessed, Broken, Given

Your Ordinary Life in the Hands of Jesus

Over the next three weeks, we’ll look at a pattern we see again and again in the life of Jesus: He takes what is offered, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it for the life of the world.

And maybe—just maybe—that pattern has something to say about what Jesus can do with our ordinary lives, too.

September 6 — BLESSED: Placed in His Hands

Luke 9:10–17

September 13 — BROKEN: Grace in the Cracks

Luke 22:19

September 20 — GIVEN: For the Life of the World

John 6:32–35, 48–51

And because September 6 is Communion Sunday, we’ll begin this series together at the Lord’s Table—a pretty perfect place to begin a journey called Blessed, Broken, Given.

Join us Sunday at 10:45 AM as we worship, share Communion, and begin this new series together.

And bring somebody with you. There’s room at the Table.

Tuesday, September 8 —

New Bible Study Begins!

Our Tuesday morning Bible Study is starting back with something brand new!

Beginning Tuesday, September 8 at 10:00 AM, we’ll be studying:

Wisdom for Everyday Life

Because sometimes we don’t need another complicated answer—we need God’s wisdom for the life we’re actually living.

How do we make faithful decisions? How do we handle relationships, our words, our priorities, our work, and all the ordinary stuff that fills our days?

Together, we’ll dig into Scripture and discover how God’s wisdom speaks into real life, right where we are.

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar. You don’t have to have all the answers. Just bring yourself, your Bible, and maybe a cup of coffee.

Men, women, longtime Bible studiers, and those who are just getting started—you’re invited. Come learn, laugh, ask questions, and grow with us.

Sunday, September 13 — 2nd Sunday Fellowship Lunch

Immediately After Worship

One of our favorite Grace traditions is back!

Bring a dish to share and stay after worship for our 2nd Sunday Fellowship Lunch.

Potluck. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is invited.

And this is an EASY Sunday to say to someone:

“Hey, why don’t you come to church with me? We’re having lunch afterward!”

There is always room at the table.

Sunday, September 27 —

Pastor Ben Tibbs Preaching

On Sunday, September 27, Pastor Ben Tibbs will be in the pulpit while I sneak away for a short birthday vacation!

Grace is Pastor Ben’s home church, although his ministry sometimes takes him away on Sunday mornings to preach for other pastors and congregations. We’re always glad when we get to keep him home—and especially grateful that he’ll be preaching while I’m away.

His message will be:

“Committing to Jesus”

1 Peter 2:19–25 & John 10:11–16

I hope you’ll be there to worship with your Grace family, hear the Word Pastor Ben has for us, and remind him how happy we are when somebody else doesn’t borrow him for the morning.

Tuesday, October 6 — National Night Out

6:00–8:00 PM | Marburger Plaza

Grace is heading out into the community for National Night Out!

We’ll be offering Face Painting by Grace as we join the City of Waller, our local first responders, and our neighbors for an evening of connection and community.

This is exactly the kind of place I want Grace to be—not just inside our church walls, but out in Waller loving our neighbors.

We’ll share more details as we get closer!

Saturday, October 31 —

Trunk or Treat + Car Show

11:00 AM–3:00 PM

Grace will once again participate in the 7th Annual Trunk or Treat & Car Show, hosted by Waller Brite Nites.

We’ll be set up in front of the Ministry Center, handing out candy and welcoming families from throughout our community.

Want to help? Bring a trunk and join the fun! And if decorating a trunk isn’t your thing—or you can’t be there that day—you can still help us keep those candy buckets full.

We’ll have a collection bucket in the Fellowship Hall for candy donations. Just grab an extra bag (or two!) the next time you’re at the store and drop it in.

Every bag helps us love on the kids and families who come through!

And yes...plans for our trunk(s) are already underway.

More details coming soon!

Church isn’t simply something we attend on Sunday morning.

It’s a people we belong to.

So this fall, worship with us. Open your Bible with us. Stay for lunch. Come to TNT. Help us paint some faces. Hand out some candy. Invite a friend. Meet someone you don’t know yet.

There is a place for you in what God is doing at Grace.

I can’t wait to see what this season holds.

Pastor Lisa
