Embrace Girls were ready for school on day one, much to the efforts of our amazing partners and sponsors. Over 150 backpacks filled with supplies and surprise treats were provided to Embrace Girls members at the Miami Dade Police Northside Station. Miami-Dade and South Miami Police received bags as well donated by the organization to share with families in their communities; 15 home learning stations including desks and chairs assembled by officers from Miami-Dade Northside Community Policing Division were decked out with clocks, tablets, printers, printers paper, jump drives, lamps and books. Uniform shirts and shoes were provided to girls who have excellent program attendance and our Book Club top readers.

Top of the discussion at a recent Zoom Meeting recognized this month as a CORE VALUE for Miami-Dade County Public School. Families also played a word game unscrambling the word Admiration leading into the discussion and jammed to Aretha Franklin's hit song RESPECT as they competed to answer the year the tune was released. Can you guess who originally released the song and in what year? The girls showed off their new journals with powerful messages, their really cool crafts for the week and thanked VOSS Water and everyone who nominated our CEO Velma Lawrence for the "VOSS DROP OF KINDNESS" Award.

To meet the needs of many our families experiencing food insecurities, we distributed meals powered by the Miami Dolphins, Kathy's Catering and BBQ Rib Shack restaurants. We served over 5,000 meals and more than 1,800 gallons of milk via doorstep drop offs, drive-thru and walk-up pick ups to communities from Doral to Miami Gardens and Liberty City.

Another fun-filled but messy day with our Embrace Families creating Scented Nickelodeon Slime. Yes, we made our very own Strawberry and Blueberry Slime, unveiled our Book of the Month, Tu Es Belle, Abby's Great Day by 103.5 The Beat's Radio Personality-turned-Author, STICHIZ and shared some cool girl chat. Thank you, Stichiz! The girls truly embraced your message of greatness and beauty within and enjoyed the Q&A.

Embrace Families were in good spirits during our Zoom Happy Hour in spite of a rocky few days back to school. All report they are adjusting and transitioning well. And, with that, the fun began. Out came the crazy faces, funny jokes and some parents showing off their old-school dance moves.

Embrace Girls' Zoom "Back To School From A Distance Kids Edition" last month prepared students for distance learning and assisted parents in organizing daily schedules and resources. The session was followed by our Masquerade-themed family fun-filled word scrabble and scavenger hunt games and crafts. |

Despite the challenges financially of the past six (6) months due to the lack of opportunity to fund raise and economic uncertainly restricting individual and corporate support, we have not been idle. We have worked tirelessly engaging new partners to provide needed resources to our families including free Flu Shots, PPE, transportation, assistance with utility payments, emotional counseling and mindfulness instruction, resources to assist with unemployment filings and work references, and well-organized activities the entire family can enjoy to reduce stress.
