Dear Strawbridge family:
Please mark your calendars for two important events in August:

A Called Church Conference on Sunday, August 3 at 12:30 pm providing an opportunity for all church members to have a voice and vote on a decision to approve expanding the project to build out the 2nd floor of the new building, and
-
A groundbreaking celebration for the new building on Sunday, August 24 after our 11:05 am worship service with snow cones for all!
The agenda for the Called Church Conference consists of two proposed resolutions regarding proceeding with the buildout of the 2nd floor of the new building for use by our Youth. This would free-up existing space that can be dedicated to Missions, additional Sunday School rooms, and a choir robing/storage area. Proceeding now will avoid the disruption associated with future construction after the 1st floor is occupied, eliminate the cost of remobilizing a contractor, and avoid ongoing construction cost escalation. The resolutions are as follows:
- Authorizing construction of the 2nd floor interior and associated budget/finance plan, and
- Authorizing borrowing funds from a member foundation on attractive terms, and the associated mortgage of church property
Our vision is becoming reality, with re-roofing of existing buildings, renovation of the choir room and relocation of existing air conditioning equipment to prepare for the new building all in progress this month. We appreciate the flexibility of those Sunday School classes whose rooms may be unavailable some Sundays this summer due to work in progress or temporary loss of air conditioning during the changeover to new locations for the condensers.
In the background, we are working to finalize the three loans necessary to fund the project, and permitting of the new building continues. Construction drawings for the 2nd floor build-out are nearly complete, and then we’ll prepare a cost estimate for consideration at the Called Church Conference on August 3.
