Dear Gould Families,

From time to time history presents us with challenges. How we respond to these challenges says a great deal about us as individuals and as a community. I firmly believe that our community views challenges as opportunities. It is with this thought in mind that I want to discuss the opportunity that we will be embracing in a short time when we transition to our online curriculum.

Our students are well-versed in using technology, with many of them quite familiar with how to continue their studies from locations away from campus. Our faculty are also comfortable and experienced with engaging with their students in this manner. In short, we are prepared. Next week our teachers will be modifying their curriculums to go live with online learning as of Monday, April 6.

While this pandemic is certainly serious, how we respond and engage with this opportunity will define this generation’s identity more than the outbreak itself will. All of us at Gould are ready to return to the work that we are called to do, to facilitate learning and to prepare academically motivated students for college and help them to become independent minded, ethical citizens who will lead lives of purpose, action, excellence, and compassion in a dynamic world.

We will do everything in our power to ensure that this becomes a shining moment in Gould’s history. In the future, when we look back on this time we will be able to confidently say that this was one of our school’s finest hours. In the meantime, the faculty made this video for you. Time to get back to class!

All the best,
Chris Gorycki
Interim Head of School
