It’s that time of year again - the turn of the fiscal year. As with any turning point, it’s bittersweet, filled with the appreciation for what has been and the promise of what will be. As always, change is the only constant, and fiscal year 2026 brings plenty of it.

The MSAC staff have been hard at work finalizing grant amounts and approval for this year’s general operating grants. As you’ll read below, we’ve also started accepting many grant and roster applications and will continue holding info sessions in the coming weeks.

The change in the fiscal year also means a change in council appointments. During our June council meeting, we thanked outgoing Secretary/Treasurer Joel Snyder (Montgomery) and Benny Russell (Harford) for their service. Both have used their voices to advocate for equity and inclusion in their years on the council, and we appreciate their time and dedication to Maryland’s arts sector.

We also welcomed two incredible individuals to the council: Midge Ingersoll (Dorchester) and Janet Stanford (Montgomery). We are excited for the energy and expertise they will bring to our work this year!
