I like nonsense. It wakes up the brain cells.

Dear Friends and Clients,

As we step into September, I’m reminded of the changing seasons and the rhythm of our little community. With summer’s final curtain call, the hustle and bustle of the tourist season is winding down. The Monday Market is now a fond memory, and the streets are quieter with our seasonal visitors heading home. It’s a time to reflect, rejuvenate, and gear up for the cozy months ahead.

School is back in session, and with it comes a renewed sense of routine and excitement for the year ahead. Speaking of new beginnings, fall officially arrives on September 22nd. The crisp air and vibrant leaves are just around the corner, and I can’t wait to enjoy the beautiful transformation of our landscape.

In our vibrant community, the Bigfork Playhouse is gearing up for its children’s theater season, bringing delightful performances and joy to families. And mark your calendars for October 12th—Tamarack Days is right around the corner! John and I are excited to be judging the casserole contest, so be sure to join us and bring your best dish! 😋

Although the real estate market has experienced some unpredictability recently, it remains active and dynamic. I am dedicated to guiding you through every step of the process, whether you are looking to buy or sell a property. My extensive knowledge of the local market, combined with a commitment to working closely with buyers' agents in line with the new NAR guidelines, ensures that I provide a transparent and smooth experience. Each year, I successfully sell over 85% of my listings, so choosing to list with me significantly boosts your chances of a successful sale. My ultimate goal is to assist you in finding your ideal home or selling your property with ease, professionalism, and a friendly approach.

Thank you for being a part of this wonderful community. If you have any real estate needs or just want to catch up, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always here to help!

Warm regards,

Denise

I’ve always known Bigfork was special. Spending time there has been a great experience, for me. Most of the time I spend there is in the fall or spring, during the "off-season". There are times where it feels that you have the entire town to yourself. But the recent news that Bigfork has been listed as one of the best mountain lake towns in the country shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

CERI'S CORNER: HEALTH ADVICE

-What Hooman Food Can Dogs Eat?

If you’ve ever wondered about the great debate on whether pets should nibble on hooman food, let me take you on a journey through my world of tantalizing tastes and cautionary tales.

It all started one sunny afternoon. I was frolicking in the backyard, dreaming of a grand adventure. As usual, the deer were prancing around like they owned the place. I couldn't help myself—I chased them with all the vigor of a corgi on a mission. Sadly, Mom wasn't too pleased with my escapades, especially when I came barreling back into the house with a giant bone and a proud grin. Her frustration was palpable, and the word “no” echoed in our home like a thunderstorm.

But let’s pivot to the truly important part of my tale: SNACKS. Oh, the delights of hooman food! Sometimes Mom can be a bit strict about what’s safe for me to munch on, but let me assure you, it’s not always what you think. For instance, while chasing deer is fun, it doesn’t compare to the sheer bliss of snacking on a piece of apple or a carrot stick.

You see, not all hooman foods are created equal. Some are like magical treats, while others can be a bit troublesome. I recently overheard Mom talking about which foods are safe for dogs like me. According to the hoomans at Daily Paws (click here), fruits like apples (without the seeds) and veggies like carrots are excellent snacks for us dogs. They’re crunchy, tasty, and, more importantly, safe!

On the other hand, there are some hooman foods that should remain firmly off-limits. Chocolate, for example, is a big no-no. It’s like the worst kind of trickery because it tastes so sweet but can make us sick. And don’t even get me started on grapes—they’re like little green nightmares for us pets.

One thing Mom always emphasizes is moderation. It’s tempting to beg for a bite of whatever’s on the table, but not all foods are good for our bellies. Sometimes, the best treats are the ones specially made for dogs—like those chewy, meaty snacks that come in adorable shapes.

So, dear readers, if you have furry friends like me, remember this: while we love to share in your food adventures, it’s important to know which treats are safe and which are best left untouched. And if you ever find us eyeing those tempting morsels on your plate, just remember, we’re not just after your food—we’re after your love and attention, too!

Until next time, happy snacking!

From the acclaimed author of The Night Portrait comes a stunning historical novel about two women, separated by five hundred years, who each hide Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa—with unintended consequences.

France, 1939

At the dawn of World War II, Anne Guichard, a young archivist employed at the Louvre, arrives home to find her brother missing. While she works to discover his whereabouts, refugees begin flooding into Paris and German artillery fire rattles the city. Once they reach the city, the Nazis will stop at nothing to get their hands on the Louvre’s art collection. Anne is quickly sent to the Castle of Chambord, where the Louvre’s most precious artworks—including the Mona Lisa—are being transferred to ensure their safety. With the Germans hard on their heels, Anne frantically moves the Mona Lisa and other treasures again and again in an elaborate game of hide and seek. As the threat to the masterpieces and her life grows closer, Anne also begins to learn the truth about her brother and the role he plays in this dangerous game.

Florence, 1479

House servant Bellina Sardi’s future seems fixed when she accompanies her newly married mistress, Lisa Gherardini, to her home across the Arno. Lisa’s husband, a prosperous silk merchant, is aligned with the powerful Medici, his home filled with luxuries and treasures. But soon, Bellina finds herself bewitched by a charismatic monk who has urged Florentines to rise up against the Medici and to empty their homes of the riches and jewels her new employer prizes. When Master Leonardo da Vinci is commissioned to paint a portrait of Lisa, Bellina finds herself tasked with hiding an impossible secret.

When art and war collide, Leonardo da Vinci, his beautiful subject Lisa, and the portrait find themselves in the crosshairs of history.
