Grateful for Support This Holiday Season

The holidays can pose a real challenge to families who struggle to purchase special gifts for their children. This year, thanks to the help of generous donors and volunteers, JFS was able to supply gifts for 285 children of families involved in JFS programs. This was our largest holiday gift drive to date! Board games, dolls, books, gift cards and other items were given to families large and small.

As one client, Mrs. K (not pictured), noted, "This holiday season is very hard. I help my daughter care for my autistic grandson. I want him to have the best, but that isn't always possible. We are healthy and happy, but I still want them to enjoy the holiday so I appreciate the gift from the JFS community." Mrs. K chose a puzzle for her 10 year-old grandson. "I'm looking forward to spending time with him and helping him put the pieces together."

On behalf of all the families participating in this year's event, we thank you for helping local children enjoy this holiday season.

Special thanks to our holiday donors who gave so generously:

  • The North Brunswick Domestic Violence Response Team
  • Hadassah Stonebridge of Monroe
  • Brandeis National Committee Middlesex Chapter
  • All the individual families that contributed to this year's gift drive

The Holiday Gift Drive is just one of the special events spearheaded by the JFS Women's Center for families in need. To support the Women’s Center or other JFS programs, please donate online at www.jfsmiddlesex.org/donate-form, or call 732-777-1940 to learn of other ways to help. Thank you!

JFS Staff Enjoy Holiday Luncheon

There is no better way to celebrate the end of a busy work year than with a holiday lunch party! The JFS staff enjoyed a delicious lunch together at The Bridge in Highland Park to commemorate another year of dedication and service to our community. With a growing number of Middlesex County residents trying to get back on their feet after COVID, it has been a challenging and rewarding year for JFS but we remain committed to improving the lives of our community members. Go Team JFS!

Middlesex County SHIP Luncheon

On December 13, JFS and the Middlesex County Office of Aging & Disabled Services co-hosted an appreciation luncheon for the Middlesex County State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselors at Forsgate Country Club. Thank you to the dedicated counselors who continue to help guide an unprecedented number of people through the challenges of navigating health insurance.

SHIP is a federally funded program with state trained counselors who help Medicare beneficiaries navigate Medicare. JFS Director of Volunteer Services Michelle B. coordinates over 40 counselors around the county who help Middlesex County residents understand their Medicare options. If you are interested in volunteering for the SHIP program, please contact Michelle at michelleb@jfsmiddlesex.org.
