What is the big green onigiri on the stick?🍙 Veo cameras explained
Have you seen that thing at games... the thing that looks like a big green watchful onigiri* on a very tall tripod? It’s a Veo camera and you may spot one at the field, swiveling back and forth to follow the action of a game. The Club owns a handful of Veo cameras, which are shared among certain teams. Veos record games and compile player stats for teams to study and analyze.
The cameras are expensive and require an ongoing paid subscription, so if your team regularly uses one, you’ll see a $25 per player assessment in your team’s budget, to support access to the cameras. Also, each team needs a parent volunteer to manage its use of a camera. Stay tuned for more info!
Pro tip: Veo cameras also record sound. If you’re standing near the camera during a game, note that what you say might be recorded.
*Unsure what onigiri is? It’s a seaweed-and-rice snack shaped like a Veo camera.
