April 4 General Municipal Election

Lee's Summit voters will be presented with four ballot questions at the General Municipal Election on April 4. Ballot questions 1, 2 and 3 are no tax increase general obligation bond questions that if approved by voters, would fund critical improvements to Lee's Summit's infrastructure and quality of life. The fourth question asks voters to consider a 3% retail sales tax on adult use, non-medical marijuana.

Questions 1, 2 and 3: No Tax Increase General Obligation Bonds

Questions 1, 2 and 3 ask for voter approval on the issuance of up to $186 million to fund emergency preparedness ($74 million), transportation ($98 million) and city facilities reinvestment ($14 million).

Question 4: Retail Sales Tax on Adult Use, Non-Medical Marijuana

Voters will decide if the City can impose a sales tax of 3% on the retail sale of adult use, non-medical marijuana. Missouri voters approved Amendment 3 in November 2022, which legalized recreational marijuana for those 21 and older. Amendment 3 allows for the City to implement a retail sales tax of up to 3% on recreational marijuana. Revenue from the sales tax would be directed to the City's General Fund.
