Time to Educate Yourself on
Beach Safety Information

The towns of Emerald Isle, Indian Beach, Pine Knoll Shores and Atlantic Beach want you to ensure you know what the unified beach warning flag system stands for along Bogue Banks. This collaborative video explains the flag colors and what each one represents.
In addition, a video was created highlighting important rip current safety information. Both of these videos were shared recently across the Town's social media feeds, in addition to other information, for National Beach Safety Week, which ran up until Memorial Day.
You can find more official beach safety information on the Town of Emerald Isle website, and through the free Emerald Isle, NC app.

Thank you to our Bogue Banks neighbors for partnering with us in this safety messaging. Help us spread the word!

The Town of Emerald Isle is also promoting its beach safety messaging in several new ways. The joint safety videos are playing on televisions located at the Western and Eastern Ocean Regional accesses, and new QR code stickers are being placed on to-go orders at several area restaurants. If you have an area business and are interested in helping us spread the beach safety message, please contact Mark Crews, Town Clerk/Public Information Officer, at [email protected].

We are thrilled to share the incredible news that Emerald Isle recently had the privilege of hosting the North Carolina Beach Inlet and Waterway Association (NCBIWA) conference! Our beautiful town served as the backdrop for this prestigious event, which brought together coastal experts, enthusiasts, and professionals from across the state.

The NCBIWA conference was a resounding success, with attendees gathering to celebrate and discuss the significance of our beaches, inlets, and waterways. The event provided a platform for fruitful discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking among government officials, scientists, engineers, researchers, and other key stakeholders.
Ocean Rescue Lifeguards
on the Beach
Emerald Isle's Ocean Rescue Lifeguards have been assisting the public along the beach strand since April 1 this year.

In all, 20 USLA-certified lifeguards will be on the beach April through September this year.
As always, we encourage you to respect the ocean, yourself and our lifeguards. Review these important beach safety tips before you head to the ocean, and stay out of the water if you see red or double red flags flying. The Beach Warning Flags are now flying in coordination with the National Weather Service.

The Emerald Isle Fire Department is thrilled to announce that we recently conducted an incredible joint training session with the Indian Beach/Salter Path Fire Department in ocean rescue!

Our dedicated departments understand the importance of collaboration and continuous improvement when it comes to providing top-notch life-saving services to our communities. That's why we make it a priority to train together several times a year on various exercises.

During this specific training, our teams tackled the challenges of ocean rescue, honing their skills and exchanging invaluable knowledge.
The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors are our utmost priority, and these joint training sessions help us deliver exceptional care and assistance when it matters most.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Indian Beach/Salter Path Fire Department for their commitment and collaboration. Together, we are stronger, and we look forward to more joint training exercises in the future!

The summer residential rate, which is in effect until Oct. 1, is 9.98¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The rate reflects prices the co-op pays for wholesale power. Members that use an average of 1,000 kWh per month can expect to see an increase of approximately $10 or 8.6% in summer bills.

For more information about our rates, go to ccemc.com/RatesRegs.
Bogue Banks Water Corporation

Dear BBWC valued customers,

In an effort to combat potential lead exposure in public drinking water systems, the EPA has requested that all water systems across the US document the materials that each one of our service lines are made of.

We here at Bogue Banks Water Corporation are fortunate that all our service lines (from the main line to your meter) are plastic polyethylene tubing. While this is great news all around for the residents of Emerald Isle, Indian Beach, and Salter Path, we are still required to document the customer owned portion of the service lines and their material makeup.

This is the line that runs from your customer valve at the street into your home. The most common material is PVC, but some older homes may have galvanized pipe or another type of metal piping. Please help us by completing the short survey inserted with your next bill or online at bogebankswater.com.

If you’re unsure, that’s okay, let us know that too! Any customer owned lines we are unable to identify the material of will have to be categorized as ‘unknown-unlikely lead’ or ‘unknown-likely lead’ based on the age of the home.

We have until October of 2024 to compile the information, but we are starting early to get ahead as there are almost 6,600 connections in our system.
