Federal Rapid Housing Initiative
  
The Federal Government last week announced a $1 billion Rapid Housing Initiative. The initiative will be administered by the CMHC and will receive applications to cover the costs of construction of modular housing, conversion of existing buildings to affordable housing, and land acquisition to support vulnerable populations such as women fleeing violence or those at immediate risk of homelessness. Read more 
Province releases EPA follow-up report
  
The provincial government has released a summary report of feedback provided in response to its discussion paper, Modernizing BC's Emergency Management Legislation. Emergency Management BC's 'What We Heard' report also advises that the Province plans to table new emergency management legislation next year. Read more

Emergency Preparedness funding intakes
  
Two Community Emergency Preparedness Fund streams have upcoming application deadlines, and new intakes have been announced for three other streams for 2021. Evacuation Route Planning has an application deadline November 6, 2020 and Structural Flood Mitigation was rescheduled with an application deadline November 20, 2020. Read more 
Measures supporting hospitality sector extended 
  
The Province has extended the streamlined process allowing food primary, liquor primary and manufacturer licensees to obtain Temporary Expanded Service Area (TESA) authorization for an additional year. The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) will be contacting affected local governments to confirm their support prior to granting extensions to licensees. Read more 
EA Directors' Forum advance agenda
  
The post-Convention Electoral Area Directors' Forum will take place on Monday, October 5th from 10am to 12pm.  The agenda will include an update on the Fire Services Act; and changes made to the licensing of Emergency Medical Assistants. There will also be an open microphone session to allow delegates to raise additional concerns. Registration is free and open until October 1. The agenda and Zoom link will be sent on October 2.

The Provincial Urban Deer Cost Share (PUDOCS) Program provides local governments or First Nations with funds to help address urban deer management challenges through operational or research projects. The program application is now available.  Read more
