Emergency Recall of Smoke Detectors - US and Canada

Why is it that smoke detectors always seem to go off at 5pm on a Friday? Friday evening emergency calls from non-clients is the norm around here. We think it's because people who don't have absentee home checks have arrived for a visit only to find their detectors beeping!
Luckily we are always available to help! And because we have the best interest of your home and family at heart, today we want to alert you to a safety recall of smoke detectors.
The two models are PI2010 (hardwired) and PI9010 (battery operated) and both have manufacture dates between September 10, 2016 and October 13, 2017
During manufacture, a yellow cap was left on and it may be compromising the alarms' ability to detect smoke.
If you have a Kidde alarm with a yellow cap or one within the recall manufacture dates, contact Kidde to request removal instructions and a new alarm. It is recommended old alarms should not be removed until the new one is available for installation.
