Sarasota County: All solid waste collection services for residents of unincorporated Sarasota County scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29, are canceled. Garbage and recycling should now be secured until the storm passes. Residents with regularly scheduled collection on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday should not put garbage, recycling or yard waste at the curb until further notice. Conditions will be assessed after the storm passes to determine when collection services will resume.
The Central County Landfill will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29. Conditions will be assessed after the storm passes to determine when the landfill will reopen.
Once the landfill reopens, priority disposal access will be given to medical facilities, evacuation centers and haulers for Sarasota County and the cities of Sarasota, Venice and North Port. Residents may be directed to alternative disposal sites throughout the county based on the impact of the storm.
The Citizens' Convenience Center at the landfill will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29. The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 2. The Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Tuesday, Oct. 4. Conditions will be assessed after the storm passes to determine when the collections centers will reopen.
City of Sarasota: Wednesday and Thursday's trash, recycling and yard waste pickups for City of Sarasota customers have been suspended. Residential collections scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29 will be picked up on Friday and regularly scheduled Friday collections will be deferred to Saturday.
City of North Port: There will be no solid waste collection on Wednesday, Sept. 28 or Thursday, Sept. 29. All collection for the remainder of the week will be pushed back two days. Wednesday's collection will now be Friday, Thursday will be Saturday, and Friday will be Sunday.
City of Venice: The City of Venice Solid Waste division will collect residents’ garbage, recycling and yard waste as usual on Tuesday. There will be no collection of residential garbage, recycling and yard waste in the city on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29. Venice Solid Waste will collect commercial dumpsters for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Solid Waste will not collect dumpsters again until Friday, Sept. 30, but will collect two days’ worth including Thursday’s.
