our second Brain Health and Wellness course for the Fall 2022 Semester (9/6/22 – 12/20/22).
This course covers age-related brain functioning and memory-retaining practices primarily for the older adult. Focus is on anatomy and physiology of the brain, brain function, healthful living choices, memory-loss prevention, neurodegenerative diseases, and managing mental health.
Participation will include:
• Discussing the anatomy of the brain and its physiological functioning
• Generate personalized ideas for brain health
• Participate in brain, memory, social engagement, and stress reduction exercises
• Discuss neurodegenerative diseases
• Explore opportunities for mental health care and support through licensed mental health providers
This is an online ASYNCHRONOUS class with all course requirements completed via Canvas. There are no required scheduled live stream meetings. Learn on your own time, work at your own pace. Dr. Schmeidler teaches Human Anatomy and Human Genetics, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at IVC. She has taught Biochemistry, Genetics, Gross Anatomy, Molecular Biology and other courses at UCLA, USC School of Pharmacy and CSU-LB teaching Genetics.
