Our second Racial Understanding Forum is this coming Sat., Aug. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. The forum will reference the films: Just Mercy (2019 with Jamie Foxx), and Freedom (2014 with Cuba Gooding Jr.) to get a modern and historical view of systemic racism and injustice against Blacks. Our panelists Ben Chambers, Carolyn Rowley, and James Graham, will share their thoughts related to these films that will provide a platform for an open audience-involved discussion. If you want to attend the forum, please RSVP to Kathy Lew at kathy.lew@emmanuelburbank.org.
And in response to the Racial Understanding Forum, we'll have A Call to Prayer! We'll join together via Zoom (click this link), this coming Sun., Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., for a dedicated prayer time. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Emmanuel's Deacon of Prayer, Teri Parker at praying4u1958@yahoo.com

Emmanuel's 30-Day Bible Reading
It's not too late to join, as we -- as a church body -- unite together in experiencing God's Word! United in God's Word is 30 days of reading Scripture verses together ( click here for the reading list). The time period for  United in God's Word is July 13 - August 11.

On Wednesdays, from 7 to 8 p.m., we're having weekly staff/elder-led discussions via Zoom ( use this link). This week's discussion will be facilitated by Emmanuel elder Key Payton. Each week will cover the verses from Thursday to Wednesday.
Let's unite in God's Word!

SUPPORT FOR RUTLEDGES: Dave and Rebekah Rutledge, and their four children, are Emmanuel Church-supported missionaries serving in eSwatini, Africa. Bekah is experiencing a medical emergency with a failing kidney. This requires her to return to the United States for surgery.  Getting her (and eventually her family) to the U.S. for her treatment is very expensive in this COVID world.
Emmanuel Church is accepting donations to help the Rutledges with these costs. Donations should be made out to "Emmanuel Church," with "Africa" written in the memo line. Send to "Attention: Bob Drummond."
For more info, contact Pastor Bob at bob@emmanuelburbank.org. Rutledge prayer updates are sent via the Emmanuel Church prayer chain. To get on the prayer chain, contact Emmanuel's Deacon of Prayer, Teri Parker at praying4u1958@yahoo.com.
