Imagination Theater provides diverse audiences with original, dynamic, participatory theatrical programming that enhances well-being and creates a more civil, safe society.

Empathy is an important starting point for many things in life, including conflict resolution. Imagination Theater can help your middle-schoolers build a strong foundation.

When we're in conflict with someone else, what helps us turn down the heat and work toward a peaceful outcome? Understanding and respecting each other's point of view, despite our differences. In other words, empathy. Two Imagination Theater programs for grades 6-8 work well as a pair, helping your middle-schoolers develop their empathy skills and then build on those skills as they learn about healthy conflict resolution.

Start with Someone Else's Shoes, which focuses on empathy skills development. Then, follow up with Clearing the Air, which introduces skills for conflict resolution based on the concepts Empathy, Accountability, and Reconciliation (EAR). Both programs are relatable and relevant, and both rely on Imagination Theater's signature blend of participatory theater, facilitated discussion, and role-play.

Please note: While these two programs work well as a continuum that guides middle-schoolers from empathy to conflict resolution, neither is limited to grades 6-8. Someone Else's Shoes is available for grades K-8, and Clearing the Air is suitable for grades 6-12.
