Expanding Talent Pools: Hiring Formerly Incarcerated Individuals

Nearly 600,000 people are released from prison each year and are locked out of the job market. High unemployment and recidivism rates for returning citizens suggest that the first step in beating the odds is helping these men and women find gainful and steady employment. Join LPED along with special guests RISE, Bridges to Hope and the Nebraska Department of Corrections to learn about re-entry support and programs that are preparing returning citizens for employment, both pre-release and post-release.

Customized and Incumbent Worker Training Workshop

Join the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development for an upcoming free workshop with the City of Lincoln to talk about opportunities for funding made available for customized job training and incumbent worker training programs.

The workshop will explore the funding available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Both funding opportunities provide between 50-90 percent reimbursement of the employer's contribution towards the employer-designed training. Employers are required to pay a portion of the training cost. More details on matching and the programs are available here through the American Job Center of Lancaster and Saunders Counties.
