Dear Team,

It’s hard to believe the month of October is almost over. It has been another busy month and I am so thankful for all of the hard work you continue to put in.

Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time officially ends this weekend, in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 1. Don’t forget to set your clocks back by one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night.

Voting
Have you voted yet? Early voting ends this Sunday, November 1 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. In total, 429,760 County residents voted so far, with 190,133 residents voting in person and 239,627 residents voting by mail. That is almost half of the 873,725 registered Orange County voters! I hope each one of you will take the time to vote whether early or on Election Day. I truly believe voting is our civic duty and I am proud to see the great turnout rate in our community thus far.

Testing
Orange County Health Services is offering free drive-thru COVID-19 testing at Barnett Park on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments can be made for anyone 12 and older at ocfl.net/testing and click on #1 on the testing map. Walk-ups are also welcome. In addition, rapid antigen testing is now available by the Florida Department of Health at the Orange County Convention Center.

Free Antivirus Software
To celebrate National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and to help you protect your personal devices, Orange County Government employees have FREE access to Sophos antivirus software. Employees can install this software on a maximum of 10 personal computers at no cost. Click here to learn more. Please remember, if you ever notice suspicious activity on your county device(s), contact the ISS Service Center immediately at 407-836-2929.

Retirement Planning
To ensure you are financially ready for the future, please participate in this year’s Financial Wellness Workshops on November 5 and November 6. This event is a great way to learn about the many different facets of retirement planning directly from Vanguard and the Florida Retirement System (FRS). Registration and supervisor approval is required.

Additionally, the quarterly Vanguard webinar, Timeline to Retirement, will take place at various times on November 6 and November 9. Vanguard hosts free webinars about retirement planning every quarter, covering a wide range of topics. For more information about Vanguard, visit www.Vanguard.com or call 1-800-523-1188. For questions or information about your benefits, contact Benefits@ocfl.net

IOA Corporate 5K
The deadline to register for the IOA Corporate 5K is Tuesday, November 3. Registration is a little different this year, so be sure to review the information on OrangeNet before signing up. All participants have from November 12 through November 15 to complete the 3.1 mile distance anytime, anywhere, with anyone you choose!

As we head into the Halloween weekend, I want to encourage you to take steps to protect yourself. I know traditional Halloween activities are fun, but some can increase the risk of getting or spreading COVID-19. The CDC has some great information about how you and your family can safely enjoy Halloween activities if you choose to participate. I hope you have a fun and safe weekend. You deserve it. Thank you so much for all you do. I appreciate you.

Sincerely,
Jerry L. Demings, Orange County Mayor signature
