Dear Team,

Orange County Government continues to honor its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our employees. To that end, we are considering offering an onsite COVID-19 vaccination location for our employees to ensure everyone has easy and convenient access to the vaccine if you choose to get it. Please take two minutes to complete this confidential and anonymous survey to assist us in determining interest. The deadline for survey completion is next Friday, April 23.

I also wanted to bring your attention to the recent updates made to our Guidance for Managing COVID-19 Exposure. This document establishes guidelines to ensure we consistently protecting the health and safety of all employees and the public, while maintaining productive County operations during the pandemic. Recent updates address important new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.

Updates include: Fully vaccinated employees are not required to quarantine if they are exposed to COVID-19, if they have no symptoms of the COVID-19 virus and can show proof of vaccination. Employees who are symptomatic and/or are unable to show proof of vaccination will be considered unvaccinated. For more information, visit the CDC’s Vaccines for COVID-19 webpage. All employees – including those who are fully vaccinated – should continue to exercise the following safety measures while at work:
  • Adhere to the County’s workplace safety guidelines
  • Take precautions in public like wearing a well-fitted mask and physical distancing
  • Avoid medium and large-sized in-person gatherings, when possible
  • Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (free testing still available at Barnett Park – visit ocfl.net/testing and click on #1 on the map)

It is encouraging to see a large number of people getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Over 52% of Orange County residents 40 and older have had at least one shot. Nearly 39% of residents 18 or older have had a least one shot. While we are excited about the distribution of the vaccine, the Coronavirus is still very much here in Orange County and we still must practice pandemic precautions. To find vaccination options throughout the County, visit ocfl.net/Vaccine.

For questions or more information about the vaccine, I hope you can join us for insights from Orange County’s very own medical expert! If you have any questions about COVID-19 or the vaccine, I encourage you to join Orange County’s EMS Medical Director, Dr. Christian Zuver in a live virtual session on Tuesday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Register now.

In addition, if you and/or your spouse are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 you can earn 20 myOCWellness points. Once you and/or spouse earns at least 70 points individually, the points convert into a $20 or $40 (for both) reduction toward Cigna medical insurance premiums per pay period. The deadline to earn at least 70 points is September 30, 2021. For more information, visit ocfl.net/myocwellness.

I would also like to share with you the launch of our “I Got My Shot” campaign which encourages everyone to get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Visit ocfl.net/IGotMyShot for details and share your experience on social media with the hashtag #IGotMyShot. Thank you once again for all you do.
