Process Change: Use Employer Disability Data Collection to Certify Disability Benefits

Previously, employers certified a member’s Disability benefits using the Employer Disability Certification form. The process has changed, and that form is now obsolete.


Now, if one of your employees is filing for Disability, you must submit an Employer Disability Data Collection through Employer Access, in the My Data Collections widget.


If you do not submit the Employer Disability Data Collection, it will delay the processing of the member’s Disability benefits.

Visit the “Manage Member Events” page in the Employer Access Learning Center and look for the “Employer Disability Certification” training topic. There you will find a video and step-by-step procedure on how to complete the data collection.

2024 IMRF Trustee Election

This fall, IMRF active members will elect one Employee Trustee for a five-year term of office that will run from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2029.

You can run for Employee Trustee if you are:


  • An active member currently participating in IMRF
  • Vested in IMRF as of December 31, 2024 (eight years for Tier 1 members, ten years for Tier 2 members)
  • Not employed by an IMRF employer as a chief executive officer, chief finance officer, or other officer, executive, or department head


The most efficient ways to submit your nomination are through Secure Message in Member Access or attached to an email sent to IMRF at IMRFTrusteeElection@imrf.org. Member Access submissions will only be accepted for the account holder. Nominating petitions will be accepted in the IMRF office in Oak Brook through September 16, 2024. Petitions received after 4:30 PM on September 16, 2024, will not be accepted.

To ensure that IMRF practices its mission to provide the highest quality retirement services to you and your members, we conduct periodic surveys to gather your feedback. Your input is important to us, as it helps us learn what we are doing well and identify opportunities for improvement.

Earlier this week (on August 5), Authorized Agents and any Team Members that have IMRF Employer Access received an IMRF Employer Survey. The survey centers on the Employer Access Learning Center and should take about five minutes to complete.

Webinar Structure

This 2-part webinar series prepares IMRF Authorized Agents to perform common IMRF tasks. Note: To receive a completion certificate, you must attend the online session live. Watching a recording at a later date will not result in a certificate of completion.


Together, these two 90-minute webinars cover the topics included in the former one-day workshop. Each webinar stands alone, and you can attend them in either order. Canceling your registration from just one module is not permitted.
